Hello!

Sci Fi Month has started and we return to the streets of Night City!  First trip here.  Starting off we have David Martinez, one of the protagonists from the Edgerunners anime.  He's a Salvadoran American teenager who is a top student at the prestigious Arasaka Academy (Arasaka being one of the megacorporations in the setting). Due to financial struggles he is relentlessly bullied by his classmates and feels like he does not belong at school. After a sudden and devastating tragedy leads him to abandon his education and puts him on the path of becoming an edgerunner (i.e. black market mercencary or cyberpunk).  He gets a sweet cybernetic upgrade which massively enhances his physical stats but takes a massive mental toll when used.

The co protagonist is Lucyna "Lucy" Kushinada.  She's a young netrunner (hacker) who introduces David to the criminal underworld of Night City and the two later become romantically involved.  It's eventually revealed that she used to be part of a special team of child netrunners raised and trained by Arasaka to delve into the Old Net to recover lost data. However, the work was hazardous as it exposed them to rogue AIs and malware, which killed much of the team. Eventually, Lucy was able to escape Arasaka and ended up in Night City.  Lucy dreams of going to the moon which she eventually does.

Haven't seen the show yet, but the premise reminds me a lot of the Shadowrun games which I'm a big fan of.  I like the designs of the characters too, very fitting for the setting.  If anyone knows any great moments from the anime I can capture with the pair, please let me know.

I've also started on the Jin-Roh protagonist Kazuki Fuse but haven't completed the character.  I'll talk more about the anime when he's more fleshed out.  She-Venom is also on the way.  Stay tuned!

It's funny that you mention Cyberpunk reminding you of Shadowrun - they're actually closely related. Both games are based on the same source material and were under development at the same time, but the Cyberpunk team got their product to market first. The Shadowrun team didn't want to release such a similar game a few months later and risk being accused of copying Cyberpunk, so they went back to the drawing board and added Shadowrun's fantasy elements to differentiate it from Cyberpunk.

Shadowrun at least the TTRPG has always had fantasy elements within the Cyberpunk world, it just obviously focused more on cybernetics and such. Saying this as someone whose both played and run games going back 20 years. It was originally released in 1989, and has undergone multiple edition updates.

Oh interesting, I didn't know that but that definitely makes sense. 👍

Do check out the Edgerunners anime. I am sure you will not be disappointed. :) As for the sculpts, great job so far. However, I feel Lucy does not have as long a face. Here's a reference picture :- https://static0.gamerantimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Cyberpunk-Edgerunners-Lucy-Featured.jpg

Thanks! Hopefully I'll get a chance to check it out. I'll check the reference and see what adjustments need to be made. 👍

Jin Roh is one of my favorite movies of all time. I've seen one STL model of the Protect Gear from the movie, but it was in pieces and impossible to reassemble in 3D. Your take looks much much better, and I can't wait to see the final result.
