Hello!

Fantasy Month is here and we've got two major heavy hitters to start us off!

So Sigmar Heldenhammer is one of the big names from Warhammer Fantasy and the eternal patron god of the Cult of Sigmar and the Empire of Man.  He is credited with uniting 12 human tribes that went on to found the Empire and just be a huge pain in the ass for all the Chaos and Orc factions running around at the time.  He is also famous for wielding warhammer Ghal Maraz which was gifted to him by Kurgan Ironbeard after Sigmar killed a Black Orc Warboss with it.  The dwarfs and human empire became total buddies after that.

The tally of his victories is absolutely staggering but Sigmar has basically defeated anyone that challenged the Empire during his reign.  Oh and remember Nagash I did awhile back?  Sigmar beat the shit out of him one time through some trickery and martial prowess (he wore a crown that Nagash wanted and smashed him apart when Nagash was reaching for it).  Sigmar ruled the Empire he founded for 50 years before heading eastwards towards the Worlds Edge Mountains.  Sigmar's reputation was so great by this time that the Cult of Sigmar was formed claiming their lord had not fallen in the East, but had ascended boldly to rule the heavens. A new god, one born of mortal origins, but destined to protect his people so long as his Empire stood.  It's kind of more complicated than that but that's what the cult believed.

So yeah, Sigmar in the Old World sounds totally badass so I'm glad I got a chance to do my take on him. 👍 Is he in any of Total War games yet?

Next up is Fingolfin, a character from JRR Tolkien's absolutely staggering Middle-Earth lore. Fingolfin was the first High King of the Ñoldor in Beleriand; the Ñoldor being one of the three branches of Elves.

Okay, Tolkien's lore is incredibly intricate and there's no way I can do justice to the huge family trees and plot intricacies but here's the important bits.  Fingolfin used to live in Valinor with the rest of the elves.  His half brother was Fëanor who created the Silmarils which were some of the greatest wonders ever created and tied to the light sources of the world.  Melkor (or Morgoth as he became known) came along and started to mess with the elves in disguise using half lies and trickery to sow discord.  Eventually, Melkor and the monstrous spider Ungoliant attacked the elves directly, killing the Two Trees of Valinor and darkening all of Aman while stealing Fëanor's Silmarils. This led to an exodus from Valinor to Middle-earth where the elves diverged into three branches.  Fingolfin became leader of the second and largest branch of elves to settle in Middle-earth.

Fingolfin ruled for 449 years where a lot of wars and other events happened but the elves never stopped opposing Morgoth and his evil schemes.  This finally culminated in Fingolfin soloing entire hordes of Morgoth's servants then challenging him directly in an absolutely epic duel.  And despite being the mightiest of the Valar, Morgoth was still scared when Fingolfin showed up at his gates after wrecking his armies and started talking smack at him. Let that sink in, the mightiest Valar is also the only one that can feel fear. 😂

On paper a fight between an elf and a demi god should have been terribly one sided, but Fingolfin managed to seriously wound Morgoth several times and give him a permanently limp before having his neck broken.  As one final insult, Thorondor, the King of Eagles flew in and recovered Fingolfin's body before Morgoth could defile it.

While I didn't know anything about this character before the month started, I just want to say that Fingolfin is the most badass elf I've ever heard of.  Holy cow, how does this elf even fight when he needs a wheelbarrow to carry his giant titanium balls?  All the other Valar probably looked at each other and said 'Shit, we just got totally upstaged by an elf.  Now we have to go in and actually do something about Melkor just to save face.'  And I just want to point out it took all the other Valar ganging up on Morgoth to finally take the Dark Lord down during the War of Wrath.  So yes, best elf ever. 👍

There wasn't any official art for him that I could find so I did my own take on him while making him look as badass and regal as possible with elven type armor.  I did notice he's consistently depicted with a sword and shield, so I included that.

Okay, now to try my hand at the original Dark Lord and complete the other half of the epic duel, I just described!  Stay tuned!

Love the Fingolfin design, but for the chin. Seems a bit too masculine and broad for an elf. The rest is superb! ^^

Thanks! Fair enough, the jut of his chin might be to prominent. I'll try to make it more slender and subtle. 👍

Yeah I see what you are saying, I feel that the chin is a tiny bit to broad for an elf, even one as badass as Fingolfin, but I think that it is the width of the points of the lower jaw that over broadens the face. The profile looks very elven and the armor and details are fantastic

they look amazing! definitely the best 3d sculptor on patreon. I can't wait for January to arrive for the author's choice to see a proper samurai

The Silmarillion is one of my favorite books because of how badass all that history is!!

Good stuff, I only watched some videos about the events but they're all absolutely epic! 👍
