Hello!

In this update, two settings collide!  Did you ever think you'd ever see a Hobbit / Berserk crossover?  Neither did I, but this is the world we live in now. 😄

While I've never watched the series, with a name like 'Berserk' it's pretty safe to assume that a lot of insane stuff goes down.  So for the Guts pose, I wanted to show him doing something really crazy and I think picking a solo fight with a dragon qualifies.  Also, Guts has a sword called 'Dragon Slayer' but he has never fought or killed a dragon?  That's just downright criminal. 😉 I did have to drastically scale Smaug down for this diorama to work but seeing a crazed fighter shooting a hand cannon at his weak spot might be worth it.

I'll be spending time fine tuning this month's assets, possibly adding an alternative helmet/weapon set for Guts.  Also, it looks like we reached the latest patreon goal this month, yay! 🥳 More details on how that's going to work in a future post.

The Sci Fi Alternative Poll is still going so feel free to cast your vote!

I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you for mixing one of my favorite fantasy settings with what may be my favorite anime. You deserve all the hand shakes.

Love it, I'll definitely give this a print as I'm a big fan of both. Just as a piece of feedback if you're interested from someone who's competed in swordfighting for 10 years, no actual swordfighter would hold a sword like that with the left arm over rotated as it would be impossible to maintain edge alignment during the cut; you would want the edge indexed with the front knuckles. In historical two handed sword fighting manuals you'd see this position but with the arms pulled back slightly in order to generate the power while maintaining alignment - here are a couple examples of period illustrations from real manuals if you're interested https://danny-pope.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/zornhut.png https://qph.fs.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-59ec9dfb29465c863e2aa4f95e6d0804 That being said, I understand art and technical reality sometimes don't necessarily coincide, especially in fantasy. Just thought I'd bring it up in case this is the kind of thing you'd be interested in :)

This looks epic! I'm so super impressed, so much detail! This is legit! ❤️

okay, i admit there is an extra layer of funny here because the dragonslayer was never used against a literal dragon, just metaphorical ones. 😂👍💖

Ah cool, thanks for the information! Yeah, I definitely focus more on the rule of cool for designs but I can definitely use these references for future stuff. Thanks! 👍

I love it, but to be honest I have to say my guts face, in the most faithful black original preview image, here it looks like a green ne more aged ....as a lover of comics I preferred the face as it was previously sculpted

But...where are the MacLeods? Or the Kurgan? :-P

The rule of cool is definitely super hard to beat. My wife is an illustrator and I harp on her all the time for historical accuracy but I know how it is. If you wanted more historical illustrations of European weapon combat, there was a guy called Paulus Hector Mair who made a huge compilation of martial arts techniques of Germany during the 1500's with a huge variety of weapons, from the longsword, staff, rapier, halberd, to even scythe, and flails. https://wiktenauer.com/wiki/Paulus_Hector_Mair may find it useful for inspiration

The dragon diorama looks awesome.

Is there a sculpt of Guts by himself?

Oh my God, my wife and I are so glad Guts is coming up from you.

Finally a dragon model that I have no reservations about and can call absolutely awesome! There are some really good dragons out there, but maybe I'm picky, I always get put off by some aspects of them. Your dragon is spectacular! I can't wait to get this sculpture printed and painted to take its prideful position in my mini cabinet. Thank you for creating the dragon of my dreams!
