Hey y'all, hope you are getting a good start to your week! Attached below is a pdf of an essay called Small Acts of Living: Everyday Resistance to Violence and Other Forms of Oppression by Allan Wade. I pulled it out of my to-read folder this morning because it looked like it would align with the essay I'm working on, and sure enough the author actually references Domination and the Arts of Resistance a page or two in! Anyway it's not very long and if you are interested in honing the way you approach/support survivors and talking about their experiences in ways that center their agency and resistance I very strongly suggest giving it a read.

A quote:

"Alongside each history of violence and oppression, there runs a parallel history of prudent, creative, and determined resistance. Yet, with a few important exceptions the theme of healthy resistance is absent from the literature concerned with the theory and practice of psychotherapy. As a result of this absence, many of the ways in which persons spontaneously resist sexualized abuse and assault (rape), battering, verbal abuse, harassment, humiliation, and other forms of exploitation, exclusion, or discrimination, have been either ignored or recast as pathology."
