"Stay where you are, and let me have a look at you." ordered the King.

King Gustav walked around Desmond's left side, looking at his scales. More than once, he and his knights had struck at Desmond with sword and arrow, only to see the blades turn at the last moment.  Now, he reached out and found he could touch Desmond's wing after a slight push.

Desmond stopped whimpering and made a noise. A...giggle, perhaps?

A surprised King Gustav continued walking. More contact with the dragon's hide seemed to reduce the resistance. He continued until he came around Desmond's tail to see the dragon's exposed soles. A light touch to Desmond's heel got a reaction, so King Gustav knelt down and started to tickle Desmond's sole.

Desmond, his great and dangerous enemy, shuddered and started to laugh silently... "
