  Hey!!

There's been some time since I last did a page process post for APPARITION right? It was by that time that the multiple sclerosis investigation and diagnosis begun and I  lost track and control of everything.

I know people say I should be more patient with myself as this is a pretty difficult situation... but I can't help it. It's been long enough. I want to go back!!!

Here are some of the tests I did for mamadou's mask pattern background for whenever he uses his mask magic! Various actual african masks were reference for me to create this but I wanted to add my personal flair with the expressions and geometry - I wanted to be respectful with my source material!

The second chapter was pretty much mamadou-centric in terms of production! Besides his gimmick background up above I also devised a digital clock face for any shenanigans I'd need regarding his frequent habit of checking his wristwatch. I wanted it to be an important part of his character! He likes to be under control, and has an unbearable perfectionist personality. A thing that I also can say here is that his wristwatch was a present from his grandfather!

An interesting thing I wanted to share - because it can be pretty useful - is that I used an isometric grid to work the page where they are talking and eating brunch! There's some kind of comfort working with isometric grids, it's way easier to be under control of what things are supposed to measure compared to each other, etc. I initially worked with a more perspective heavy approach but I got lost in it!!

...And well, as we are talking about the brunch! Here are the pieces I did in a separate canvas. Different floatie flavors here!! I even forgot about that!!

For page 10 I also experimented a bit more with photobashing. A scene with the train ride seemed perfect to experiment on it!

Photobashing magic on the work - a static day time picture turns into a night time piece in motion with a big city on the background! I really wanted to make the giant hemp clock to be very apparent - they are leaving Hempshire and going somewhere else!
