I've had a pretty rough start this month regarding mental health, but I'm feeling a bit better now! Good enough to work, and from there things are bound to get better bit by bit.

I'm going to take the opportunity to start the page process posts, where I share stuff like sketches, lineart and other process stuff I may have lying around for the pages in question.

For these initial pages, I wanted to bring out they were a very good (and hard!) test for implementing 3D in my workflow! Check these tests I did for the back alley in page 03.

I have a very rudimentary grasp on 3D, and I'll keep studying it, but my other skills fill in the gaps while I'm not at a level I want. I was very happy to know I could finally do magic circles in perspective!!!!

Also It was a good solution for stuff I'm not very familiar with but have to work with anyway, such as ships... you can see it in page 05 and the chapter intro page! Ofc I have to always embellish it and work them into the composition, as to not feel jarring.

Breaking this taboo was hard, but I've been told it's working smart by some professionals I reached out to ask about it.

In the chapter intro I even tried to do a rudimentary cityscape to test out on how effective it'd be on tackling those, but if we are to be fully honest here, I think I'd prefer doing it by hand or photobashing! Maybe when I'm more skillful with 3D.

For the ingredients in page 03, I have done some studies regarding on how they were supposed to look... I still want to work out a bit on quintessences but for now it's fine!

Actually I must say these were also intensive regarding ornamentation, designs for posters and stuff like that!! Check some of these!

And ofc, stuff I did for the visual identity of the Jolly Pansy!! I ended up using the little Pansy in everything regarding it.

The stained glass before is also part of an important test I wanted to do, which is doing designs in flat surfaces and then deforming them according to the perspective.

For that, I tried to do some building façades elements, such as windows and doors, and then worked with these as bases after properly deforming them. I've been trying to expand my visual library regarding architecture so OOF lots of work here.

Also some cute trivia!!

As I'm a quite lonesome person I always try to look around for stuff to encourage me out on the stuff I have to do.

One of those things was a coincidence - my dad got a pansy for me and in the same week I bought a peppermint, a plant I have been looking for for the longest time!!! It smells so good. Did you know menthol, the substance I used as one of the ingredients in page 03, is also extracted from the peppermint? Coincidences like that are sources of inspiration and validation to me. Or maybe it's the inevitable? Hehe.

Unfortunately this pic is awful, but the peppermint has grown since then and is turning out a pretty handsome plant! The pansy however already died out LOL

Another garden trivia is that I got an Anthurium... It brings Anthuria to mind right?

That's probably because they have the same greek origin - Anthos, which means flower. You can see it around in bothany a lot actually, such as the genus of the sun flower, Helianthus, helios means sun, while anthos is flower. I have always loved taxonomy so I end up using greek and latin radicals like that a lot in my naming conventions LOL

Those pics are from back in July so I can't even recognize them, they've grown so much!
