 Hey everyone!!

As I've been practicing with 3D for environments, this time I picked up sketchup to try it out! You've seen me practicing it but this is the first time I actually use it for a composition!

> Opposite to the last time I worked with 3D, I wanted to have a more loose approach to the structure. I didn't spend much time on it tbh, as I wanted to save the effort for the actual embelishment stage... Also if things and pre-rendered objects are too perfect I get a bit pressured!! When I just block the big shapes, I do whatever I want with it.

Tbh I could have put more work into it but i'll try harder next time!!

> Base sketch, using that structure I made!! Blocking the basic body shapes and the gesture I want them to have.  Very simple, but has the message I want to give off with the characters. Yes...... I didn't need to draw the actual 7 kids and Honda...... but after researching about the character I was supposed to tackle this month, his relationship to them was so cute, I really wanted to work it out on the piece!!!

Also while working on it I had the line "I love my daughters, they're so pretty...." repeating ten thousand times in my head to set up the mood........... It was the first thing on Hakan's trailer, which was sent by a patron as a suggestion to get more info about him (thanks dude!)

> Anatomy pass!  Still no clothes for the characters. I always like to draw the bodies, even though lots of times I just cover them lol... You can also see the experiment I was doing with Hakan's head. I'm particularly fond of the kids, each one of them is doing something different!

> Working out the background! Wanted to make it look a turkish wrestling event. This time I was way more chill working with it!

> Laying out the clothes!! I've been getting very loose at this stage, just wanting to gauge how the cloth will drape on the body. Hakan's skin tight gear leaves little to drapery, but the kids all had cute baggy one pieces! Notice that I blocked the girls hairs like they were helmets LOL that's actually an option to plan how your character's hair works!

> Polish for the clothes! I know Hakan has a big belt over his chest....But I didn't want to cover it!!!! I'm guilty.

> The piece was kinda empty on the right side, so I added a tiny house!! Also put the numbered disks in the girl heads.

> Lineart!!!! This time I really wanted to experiment with weight for perspective purposes. Hakan has the thickest outlines, while Honda has a mid term between it and the background, which is weightless. I'm honestly happy with the result... which is news, I haven't done a lineart I enjoy in ages!!!

> base shadows for everyone!! I decided I would not shade the BG with detail, and opted for going to loose, smooth shading for it. I have to actually be mindful of it, I think it really isn't productive to over render everything - gotta play smart!

> Color sketch!! Playing with more saturated colors now.... not thaaaat happy with the colors I picked but that's ok.

> ugh.... flats.......

> Final image without the final touches I gave to it- namely the confetti and a gradient. I have to study how to render distances on backgrounds! While open spaces are more easier due to the atmospheric effect, I often struggle with how color behaves in regular settings. Let's keep studying!

I had so much fun with everyone's expressions this time!!!

That concludes our monthly pin-up post! I'll be opening the voting for the next character on the 1st, I'm looking forward to your participation on it! :D

Oh I love all the expression detail! And I think the background really works - can't wait to see more :)

I'm glad you think so rob, I think i'll settle with it whenever I need to work out a 3D environment! Also yes, I had lots of fun with the expressions 💙 ❤️
