 Hey everyone!

Hope you're all faring well. Physio is proceeding nicely, the pains are getting duller by the day. I was able to finish this piece as well - even though my relationship with art has been at its most complicated in years, so I'd say I'm doing small progresses... thanks for being patient and sticking along with me. ❤️

As you know, these Patreon projects are all meant to help me practicing new things. Last month I did it with a premade 3D model, which I properly worked. This month I wanted to try out roomsketcher!

> The scene from above is so funny!! I imagine an empty room like that and the characters just there like idiots..... art really is about creating an illusion lol! What I didn't like about this software is the lack of a more.... dynamic camera? I really like being able to having control of what I'm going to put on my composition, in roomsketcher you put the camera icon in one place, and you have to snap a shot everytime you want to see something. I think I'll stick to sketch up in future projects. Here are some shots I got from my experiments!

> Sketching the base!!! Working on a pre rendered base is kinda pressuring tbh... specially when my style has a whackiness element to it, and 3D programs always have this rigid mechanic perspective. I worked with silhouettes for the characters, I've been told that I'm focusing too much on getting anatomy right, so I tried making that secondary here.

> Anatomy pass! This way I work inside the silhouette I did, and don't have to stress getting everything right. Tried making Stinger sitting in a different position, the first one I did looked more interesting but it didn't fit his character very much....

> Polish, polish! Clothes, costumes and details. Champ is so cute... his head was always difficult for me to draw, so this time I was happy I got it to look nice.

> Lineart! you can see my lines don't express themselves fully when they need to be in perfect neat geometry..... A study is a study though! I bet some details are kinda off when it comes to following perspective, which is a point I have control when I work from a grid. With pre rendered stuff I have to eyeball things, which is challenging as perspective is definitely something I have a hard time with!

> Did this pass to check the foreground/background dynamic, Perhaps I should have sticked to these values, I think the finished piece doesn't have a very established value contrast dynamic.

> Worked out the hard shadows!

> Color sketch, followed by flats.

> This time I also got the file with the base shadows set in, from which I start to render.

> I've posted the finished version, but I wanted to experiment a bit more with the color of this piece with post finish treatment! Here is a version in which I elevated the overall saturation. It looks neater somehow!

> And here it's me playing with overlay. For warmth I picked dull browns and oranges for the color overlay. I wonder if you have any favorites out of these?

And that concludes our monthly pin-up post! I'll be opening the voting for the next character on the 1st, I'm looking forward to it!! <:
