In my continued search for Howard's best outfits in my comic Abel Boddy, I found this look from 2009.

I enjoy a walk and talk, an establishing shot and when characters are doing a few things at once - so this set up was always a particular fave. I think I had established earlier that there was an A&F/Hollister-like clothing store called Elder, which was inspired by Mormons - so in this short arc Howard gets a gift card from Bonnie and reluctantly goes shopping at Elder even though he is annoyed by their corporate queer baiting.

The outfit is pure fantasy and I love it. A rolled up skinny jean with stacked heel Derby lace ups. A loose hip bag, tucked in tee shirt and this extra cropped bomber with a dramatic Yzma-like zip up fur collar. And Bonnies gray booties and handbag (I think I was going for a Louis Vuitton saddlebag kinda thing...) were also a source of pride.

Now, as much as I love drawing all of the above - I also knew it could be a big time hindrance later when drawing oddly cut clothing at a different angle or in a different pose, so I usually made sure to layer outfits so in the following strips stuff could be taken off if it needed to be.
