With my comic Abel Boddy I was dedicated to regularly changing the outfits of my protagonist Howard. This is a for better or for worse situation since I got to live my Carrie Bradshaw ridiculous outfit fantasy but also comic strip artists put their characters in the same costumes every time for a reason - speed.

Anyway, I've been going back trying to pick my favorites, both of these are comic #160 - which I drew twice. The first time was  in the summer of 2008 (the second image), but then the story was delayed and I repurposed the scene a few months later during winter.

Both of Howard's looks were supposed to reflect his disconnect from and derision for the gay neighborhood of Bailey Avenue.

The "few months" line was a joke because the coming was coming back from hiatus. In retrospect I would take out the "Abel!?" so it would appear he was talking directly to the audience.
