In Reference to: Cannen (Patreon)

In my continued effort to purge reference (also procrastinate), I was looking at the stuff I had collected for Cannen, Jockstrap Academy's bullish loudmouth. 

Cannen was inspired by a character of the same name from the 1986 B-movie, Wimps. As a kid, I used to pay special attention to the black characters in movies and TV specifically because there was usually just one and I would think "this character is supposed to be me". I originally modeled my Cannen off of the Cannen from the movie, and have since used him in both Jockstrap and 12-Inch Roommate as Matt's jock buddy.

In my recent explore of the Jockstrap Academy idea, Cannen is still the token black jock (which I'm okay with because there are other prominent characters of color), but I've tried to blow that character out to:

A brute with rage issues, Cannen yells a lot. He cannot keep his hands to himself and is the self-appointed bouncer in any circumstance. Only pays attention to other jocks and hot babes, he cannot even see "tweebs". Everything is turned into a sex joke - which he genuinely thinks is hilarious.

...and to contrast those things, I've decided he's British, speaks fluent Spanish, and majors in Literature. He's also the Editor of the campus newspaper.

When I looked back at Cannen's reference, most of what I pulled was barrel chested muscle guys, with a specific type of torso. They had firm, round pecs and great abs, but the cut waist was the real star. 

His description in my script became: "...with pecs that buoy under his cut off shirt and a sharp Apollo's belt that into his gray sweatpants."

In terms of clothing, I decided he's a non-pretentious show-off so, he's sleeveless to show off his arms - but the shirt is also cut to give you waist and side pec - and he rocks the classic gray sweatpants.
