Summarily (because yes, I talked a lot) for a OP conclusion/final-moment-of-the-fight (so far as I know) type of episode, it was an 8/10 considering the long, long wait and build-up for this moment. It's a bit difficult considering the peak moments during the fight... I guess I was expecting the end to surpass that. But I mean, thinking about it, it's almost impossible to surpass the hype we had earlier in the fight, like:

- Law, Kid and Zoro all fighting with/around Luffy was so exciting

- Big Mom being involved and her dynamic with Kaido during the fight

- Red Rock/episode 1015

- Luffy's DF reveal and SUN GOD NIKA

So all in all, it was for sure a great episode, but I'm still not really sold on Kaido as a villain, because I did expect to be more invested in him than villains like Crocodile, Eneru and Doflamingo (for example).  I'm not saying he's objectively not interesting - as always, this is my opinion/feelings on the matter. And yes he is insanely strong compared to all previous antagonists, but I just expected more (story-wise) from him since that is where OP shines for me (stories more than action/fights).

I know there is more to come in this arc, it's not officially over, and sometimes the best story stuff gets revealed in the aftermath, but it's been well over 100 episodes so far and this (as far as I know) is the FINAL PUNCH. I'm just trying to expand on why I didn't feel as satisfied as I did during other episodes like this one (e.g. the last punch/move in Arabasta, Skypiea, Dressrosa etc.).

Anyway, this is as short as I can make my thoughts, but if you have time and you are interested, you can definitely listen to my thought process in the video and spirited discussions with the live chat (I just think that considering it's a live reaction, it's always a bit tough to give the right words to how I feel in that moment, but I do enjoy the process).

Tbh, many people felt similarly regarding Kaido and the fight when the Manga was coming out. So you're not alone. I prefer to keep any additional discussions until the arc is over 🙂

I dont know. Given Kaido's experiences in life, it's understandable if his only goal is to get even with the world and destroy it. But he said in the Manga he wants to rebuild the Oni Race. He seems to hate humans too. To fulfill that dream he needs to get rid of humans and rebuild from scratch.

I already responded to your other comment with my thoughts on this (just replying in case Jin wants to reply there and make it one thread instead of two separate ones). Not that a response is needed :3

I’ll never forget the community’s reaction when this chapter dropped in the manga. For context, people were expecting kaido’s flashback to be 5-10 CHAPTERS. And the fact that it was just 2 pages was hilarious. Even if we do get more, it won’t hit the same. I personally was not invested in kaido’s character, so I was not disappointed. Pretty much came out as hallow as I thought he was. But it was interesting seeing other peoples perspective at that time and investment in him. Anyways, dope reaction and discussion as always

5 to 10 😂😂 holy crap. Has any straw hat even got a flashback that long??

Kyogln

I think only Luffy’s. Which was 15 I think but he’s the main character. Needless to say, they were in copium.

Yeah only Luffy and Oden were the flashbacks to surpass 10 chapters, but 2 pages was too short and we still don’t know much about Kaido. All in all it was a rare Loda moment
