Summarily (because yes, I talked a lot) for a OP conclusion/final-moment-of-the-fight (so far as I know) type of episode, it was an 8/10 considering the long, long wait and build-up for this moment. It's a bit difficult considering the peak moments during the fight... I guess I was expecting the end to surpass that. But I mean, thinking about it, it's almost impossible to surpass the hype we had earlier in the fight, like:
- Law, Kid and Zoro all fighting with/around Luffy was so exciting
- Big Mom being involved and her dynamic with Kaido during the fight
- Red Rock/episode 1015
- Luffy's DF reveal and SUN GOD NIKA
So all in all, it was for sure a great episode, but I'm still not really sold on Kaido as a villain, because I did expect to be more invested in him than villains like Crocodile, Eneru and Doflamingo (for example). I'm not saying he's objectively not interesting - as always, this is my opinion/feelings on the matter. And yes he is insanely strong compared to all previous antagonists, but I just expected more (story-wise) from him since that is where OP shines for me (stories more than action/fights).
I know there is more to come in this arc, it's not officially over, and sometimes the best story stuff gets revealed in the aftermath, but it's been well over 100 episodes so far and this (as far as I know) is the FINAL PUNCH. I'm just trying to expand on why I didn't feel as satisfied as I did during other episodes like this one (e.g. the last punch/move in Arabasta, Skypiea, Dressrosa etc.).
Anyway, this is as short as I can make my thoughts, but if you have time and you are interested, you can definitely listen to my thought process in the video and spirited discussions with the live chat (I just think that considering it's a live reaction, it's always a bit tough to give the right words to how I feel in that moment, but I do enjoy the process).
