I enjoyed your discussion about society and morality. What you were talking about, reminded me of this quote from Psycho Pass. "The law doesn't protect people, the people protect the law." True justice doesn't hold any meaning unless the people come together to uphold and protect the ethics and morals they all share in the desire for a better world. The system and society in general never tends to be fair or its rarely just and correct, because its controlled by stronger powers made up of the selfish and powerhungry who willingly bend the rules to their own will for their own gain. But just as much as there is so much evil in the world, there is just as much people who want to live good honest lives. It all comes down to the individual against the society. Society may be next to impossible to change, but an individual can change the lives of so many people around them, simply by upholding the values they believe in. Making a small difference that way, which eventually spreads and hopefully one day 1000 years from now.. has impacted the people on a society level. The ideal has become the law because everyone has come to a universal agreement that they want to believe it is worth standing for. But that's just the massive optimistic in me lol, but it is something worth living for and having pride in.
