Why Luffy wasn’t just crushing the biscuit warriors was that Cracker could just reuse the Brocken part while eating them prevents that. Cracker was losing more energy creating biscuits then reusing them.

it's been 4 years since the 807-808 specials were released and i still haven't forgiven sanji for this.

For some reason I find Big Mom's laugh very addicting, I keep doing it.

Thanks for the reaction! Up until that point I feel like we’ve had every possible sound that luffy can make but when his voice cracked like that when he said without you I can’t become king of the pirates… damn, that hit hard! 🥲

I love the fact that you were just like a dissapointed mother towards Sanji :"I don't agree with your decision Sanji, but you do you ... I don't like it but .... ". :P

Jimbo

That sounds like a serious problem lmao :,D

The Zoro vs Sanji thing is just idiot fans taking what is mostly a joke to others too far Some anime fans like to power scale characters and figure out who is the strongest. Zoro fans always make fun of Sanji fans because Zoro is stronger etc and some people get so triggered by it that they get like... Paranoid? or some shit. And they just go on the attack anytime people criticize their favourite character

Jimbo

I'm pretty sure the reason there were so many ad-break things is because it was like an extra long episode or something when it came out.. I swear I remember people saying that somewhere. It went for 30 mins instead of 20 or maybe even went for 40 idfk. Or maybe 807 and 808 were released at the same time I MIGHT BE WRONG. Just read that it was some hour long special when it released, not that it helps lol

Dietrich

That's exactly it, 807 and 808 were released together in a 1h special

I love Sanji so much after this <3 well before this as well

On the speech of Sanji vs Kalifa it's very true that Sanji could have run away when he saw a woman in front of him. However the goal was to retrieve the key because as far as he could know at that moment Kalifa could have the key to Robin's handcuffs. Oda has given him this extreme characterization with women that leads him to want to achieve a goal that he could never achieve. It's a selfish attitude of the character, because he could trust his friends more, but at the same time it's an aspect on which Oda can focus to make his character grow even more. Personally, I really like him as a character because he has so many facets. On Sanji vs Zoro it's true that sometimes the discussion between the two factions is irritating, because the extremists do nothing but offend those who do not speak well of their favorite character. But it is also true that at the same time it's now an integral part of the world community. Oda knows this very well and takes great advantage of it.

What do you think about the ideal that Sanji thinks less of himself, like what we just see in his past, he has always been treated as lesser than other siblings, only after he run away and meet Zeff that he has been treated better. But deep inside, he doesn't think of himself as "value" as other, it's why he was surprised to see Luffy come to WCI, despite he seen Luffy does it several times for Nami, Robin. He trying to prove his "worth" by sacrificing himself. I used to read a "one-line summary" of Sanji's character and it is something like: "Sanji is a kind of person who will light himself on fire to keep other people warm". And we know other members will sacrifice themself for others, but it is the kind of last resort (like Zoro did in Thriller Bark).

Love the reaction. People might complain about the reaction yadda yadda all they want but imo it was really nice seeing a reactor for once analyzing what's going on instead of just going with the flow of the ep. I've seen this ep 10+ already and I'm not here to watch am here to see someone else's perspective. Now that's this out of the way.... 808 imo is where the one piece staff starts to slowly but surely give justice to the manga after the disaster that is dressrosa (at least weekly from my experience). Pacing is an issue and will always be that but at least now we have a superb animation and anatomical correctness added to the immaculate ost and voice acting, that help me the watcher look a bit past the pacing. also Idk if u noticed or I might've missed but nami when she calls sanji it's always "sanji kun" but in this ep after what sanji did to Luffy she said "Wait! Sanji!" Before slapping him. I don't think she ever in the entire series called sanj without the kun, which makes this even harder for me the reader to digest.

I loved to saw your reaction on depth of Big Mom crazyness, especially with those kids or hers., who play with knifes. Also I like your thoughts on Sanji's decision that is was not wrong choice. Sanji already have done everything to made Luffy leave him alone, but then he get good kind girl that will love him, and will change his Hell into Paradize.

EmDragonx

in the ep he said he wants big mom to let his friends go so i guess by marrying pudding is hes way out ,at least for everyone else so they dont get hurt ..

animaechan

I didn’t notice that about Nami!! Thank you for pointing it out, since in the manga I’m reading it doesn’t add the “kun” so I wouldn’t be able to pick up on that little detail later… it’s definitely something I’ll look out for now on my future rewatch, whenever that may be 💜

animaechan

yeah I understood that :) as I said, Robin planned the same thing basically back in Water 7

Jolly D. Joestar

Currently seeing your reaction to Bartolomeo be a Luffy fanboy

Arthur Lima

Just something on the whole "Sanji put robin in risk in Enies lobby" thing: Yes, Sanji sticking to his principles can be annoying sometimes, but one of the main themes in Water 7/Enies Lobby is something that Sanji literally says later and is kind of a mantra for the Straw Hats: "I'll do what you can't, you do what I can't".

animaechan

Uhm… but that is with regards to what someone physically cannot achieve. There was nothing forcing him to sit down and have tea with kalifa. There was nothing stopping him from utilising just enough force to subdue her, steal the key and leave, or just leave all together and stop wasting time on someone he doesn’t WANT to fight (it’s not that he physically doesn’t have the power to, he just doesn’t want to because he was taught that it’s not polite to fight a woman, even if she is trying to kill you or whatever 😅). Nami realised she was no match physically for kumadori, did what she could (steal the key) and left. I personally believe Sanji could’ve spent his time better instead of making chit chat with Kalifa. But that’s just my opinion.

Arthur Lima

I don't think you have to agree with any of their actions, sorry if ir sounded that way. What I'm trying to say is that sometimes the characters are used as narrative tools, and I think that's the case with Sanji there. It would be much nicer if he found a way to steal the key without fighting or if he just moved to another fight quickly, but then we would lose the whole conversation with Usopp and the point of that arc, which to me is learning to trust your friends and to ask for help when you can't do something. I just wanted to point it out because Sanji did many great thing in that arc to be overshadowed by one stupid decision. And probably you already know all that and still don't like what he did there, and that's ok, I totally respect it

animaechan

I get that, but compare it with any other character, let’s use an extreme example like Doflamingo. A literary device is “a tool used by writers to hunt at larger themes, ideas and meanings in a story”. So doflamingo, his words and actions obviously hint often at various themes the OP story as a whole addresses (e.g. the concept of justice). So much of his actions are written in order to illustrate or or hint at these larger types of themes. So bc the story “used” his actions, am I now supposed to like/agree with them? No 😅 but you already said that in the last part of this comment. So once again, I feel this conversation is moot. It feels to me like you just want to defend Sanji or “convince” me to like him more than I do.

Ashbourne Fernandes

Didn't get the White Fang reference until you mentioned New Girl, haha

Whyyeezus

If you like Zoro more Sanji fans stay on your ass and if you like Sanji more Zoro fans be on your ass. It's so dumb like Luffy is better than both so who cares jkjk :)

Bob Seibert

i think it's only a theory, don't know if it's confirmed, but one think that could have influenced sanji preference in treatment to women is because on his biological family only the women treat him nicely, while the men ...
