I watched it live with you. Its one of my favorite dc movies (because of a certain blonde Angel) and im glad you enjoyed it :)

I am glad you like this movie, but I do not think this is the right way to start it. This is the 22nd movie of the series, and it involves countless characters that were introducted in the past 20 years. As a mange reader and animation viewer of this show, I know every side characters, they have their own storyline, their love line, and I think that makes me having more fun watching it. I notice you confused a lot when watching becausse you did not know certain things which are basic to the viewers of the show. This is not your fault. This movie does not target first viewers. The target people who had previously watched the show or read the manga, who knew the story and characters. Therefore, if, in the future, you would like to watch another Conan movie, I strongly suggest starting from the 1st one. It is aired soon after the TV show started, so it has less characters, less complicated backstory, and you may enjoy more simple fun. Also, personally, I think movies 1-7 are all of very high quality, my personal favorite is 4. Movies after that are not that stable, some are really good, some are OK, some are ......

well the thing is, at the end of the day, watching this movie made me consider watching the show - which I never thought I'd want to even get into.

This is the series that I grew up with, I can say without a doubt that the work ethic of the author of Conan, Gosho Aoyama, is on par with Oda, if not more. The quality of the manga, through its 20+ runtime, never drops, just like One Piece, the story and art only get better. And the thing you will definitely love in this series that OP doesn't have is ROMANCE, omg so many cute love stories, and you will definitely slowly become attached to the characters, even side characters. as far as movies go, I think after movie 7 they all kinda became popcorn flicks, not saying they are bad, they are still worth a watch but if for new viewers I would recommend movies 1-7. anyway, this could be your main react series after you caught up One Piece, just an idea.
