I'm pretty sure these episodes were mixed canon/filler and that's why you felt like the episode(s) were "it's really filler?" but just in case I'm not gonna tell you what's filler or not because I don't want to be in trouble for it! 😅

The training is a hax. Its not just halved with a single clone, more so with a huge number of clones. The experience keeps getting accumulated with every shadow clone dispersal and creation. Basically you can say Naruto is actually doing decades worth of training in a few days.
