~ I ended up scoring the season (which is only the first HALF of season 4) a 7.5 out of 10 (which is the same score I gave the Land VS. Air OVA).

I'm very excited for the next half of the season, I REALLY want Karasuno to kick the other teams ass :P clearly I do NOT condone heckling of any sort, especially when you're booing at high school kids. There has been a heavy focus on good sportsmanship in Haikyu so far. so this really threw me off. Whether or not it's common, I think it's shitty.

I'll probably go back to watching these episodes on my own from the next half of the season, instead of watching live. If there is enough request, I could do a "season review" about a week after it's over, after everyone (including me) has had time to process their emotions/thoughts in their own time. This will make for a better environment for a more "objective" discussion.  It'd be easier for me to address a group of people (like in a livestream) if I'm in the "review/discussion" frame of mind, and not just halfway in the process of stepping out of a pretty emotional moment (like at the end of this episode).

I was watching S1 - 3 on my own and just posting reactions afterwards, so I didn't expect to need to do it for S4. But in the future, I will just mention more often that reactions are different from reviews and I'm not always ready to talk about things "objectively" at just any given time. I used to choose more carefully the kind of anime I watch for reactions (pre-recording) VS the kind of anime I watch live. But I started doing more and more streams, and I pretty much just watch everything except One Piece live at the moment.

I don't think people realise that the review part of my brain is not = to the reaction/emotion part of my brain. There is quite literally a right brain/left brain divide. So when I'm on the one side, it can get pretty jarring to be expected to step right over to the other side (from emotional involvement in a story, to objectively discussing it), especially when it's just me being watched by 80+ people and half or so of them participating in the chat, some joking, others being serious, some stepping in at an awkward moment and not understanding context etc.

Anyhoo! Overall, it was a good season, maybe not my favourite (I can't decide whether season 2 or 3 is my favorite), but still nice to watch. I think it laid a good foundation for the second half, and I honestly didn't notice the style/animation difference unless the comparison was right next to each other. I don't think it was better, or worse - just a little different. What did you think?

I'm all for you watching this on your own, I can't catch it live anyway cause of time zone most of the time so makes no difference to me :) Also I also couldn't notice the difference in animation personally, I thought it looked just as great as always =)

This is personally my second favourite match in the whole series, so this episode really hyped me up. My top 3 matches in the series are all upcoming matches, so I’m pretty excited for the second cour and season 5. I can definitely see why you hate this team. Them along with their cheer squad aren’t very likeable, lol. But, personally I don’t mind watching assholes as long as they are entertaining to watch. So let’s hope that you find this as entertaining as I did when I read it. Also Kita, their captain, is my 4th favourite character in the whole series, so I can’t wait to see him in action. I’m hoping that with this 3 month break they will be able to give this match some incredible animation, like in episode 12. Although I prefer the old style, episode 12 looked amazing, so if the match looks like that, I will be very happy.

Season 4 was for sure the weakest season so far. The problem is that this season is seperated into 2 parts therefore we dont have an emotional ending to it like we did in all the other seasons. I dont really know why the season is seperated into 2 parts, can someone tell me? Nevertheless the season did some good build up. Hinata, Tsukki and Kageyama at their training camps etc. Part 2 of the season is gonna be awesome like every haikyuu season finale

Ahhh wall o text. Personally I've always preferred you're thoughts on the anime, I know you love the streams and it's a good part of your income but I've felt you're being influenced by the chat which is fine for some anime ie jojo which is well jojo. Keep up the good work.

I really like Atsumu as a character because he was a major factor in Kageyama's growth. When Kageyama sought advice from Oikawa in season 2 Oikawa told him that he should give the toss that his spiker wants, otherwise he'll come back to being the dictator king. Kageyama followed that advise for the most part during season 2 and 3. But in season 4 in the youth camp, Atsumu told him that he was a "goody two-shoes" implying that he should be demanding towards his teammates and essentialy pulling Kageyama's cursor back towards the king of the court again, and his old habits showed up when he snapped to Nishinoya in the Dateko match. But then Hinata puts the crown back on his head to tell him that he should embrace his nature because now he has a team who can understand him and improve through him. And that resulted in Kageyama's redefining his style. He doesn't have to be a selfless setter like Oikawa who is dedicated to the comfort of his teammates, or a pushy setter like Atsumu who hates playing with people who suck, but somewhere in between where he can help develop and fullfill the potential of his team.

I don’t know if this is the reason for this show. But for most shows, if they split it into 2 cours, it’s because they want more time to animate it. So basically more time = better animation.

Haha I knew you’d be just as riled up at the end of the episode as I was! In regards to why his face annoys you, he’s basically just Oikawa except minus the charm and charisma and just a scumbag. Tbh though I’m glad that Inarizaki is the way they are it just makes me want the Karasuno boys to beat them even more

oh lord, it's been a while since you dislikes one of my favorite characters xD I believe the last one was nami, way back then?? anyways, it's cool and i get why you dislike atsumu. i also REALLY dislike inarizaki's crowd, it's painful as hell to watch.. anyways, your feelings are perfectly valid and that was a great reaction! I'm going to miss haikyuu and watching haikyuu with you for some months.. but oh welp, when it comes back it's going to be -lit- and we'll be here for it ✨😎✨

I love your Dororo reaction. You analyzed very calmly and knew instantly what would happen. I respected your understanding and affection for the characters. But you are watching HAIKYU!! very emotionally. So now I am very confused. For example, I don't know what's the difference between booing in this episode and your behavior on the characters you hate. To me, both feel the same. In my poor English, you may not understand what I mean. If you get angry, this will be my last comment ... it's very heartbreaking, but I wrote honest feelings.
