Is the red liquid that Rika is drinking every night wine or something else? Guess the villagers have no problem selling alcohol to a minor, as long as its Rika...

IMPORTANT: Episode previews actually give hella spoilers in this season. I have no idea why but when I was rewatching this with a friend a preview spoiled a BIG reveal down the line so careful! EDIT: Looking back it's actually at the end of episode 10. I would also advise you to not read the comments on that particular video as people will be talking about it. ~

Really? That's lame. It's a shame because having to stop previews for yet another anime isn't something I'd want. Can you maybe remember which episode it was so we know what to avoid ahead of time (like with Berserk)?

Without too much memory on the context, the PREVIEW AT THE END OF EPISODE 10 contains spoilers. EDIT: Just went back and watched the preview at the end of episode 10 and yep it did spoil a shocking reveal. I would also advise her to not read the comments on that particular video as people will be talking about it.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet, but here's a fun/creepy easter egg: If you play the season 2 opening backwards it's the same creepy chant as the opening from season 1. You can check it out on youtube, the video is "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai OP - Naraku no Hana - REVERSED".

Fun Fact: Rika's "Nipah" is basically the comic book version of a "smile" sound effect. So in a way, Nipah is kind of like a fake smile Rika is using to try and hide her pain. I suppose in hindsight its more of a sad fact than a fun fact lol.

The other layer of this is that the chant from the season 1 opening is actually the backwards version. When it's played in reverse (like in S2 OP) it's revealed to say "Nigerarenai" which means "You cannot escape." So, same deal here. If you watch the s1 opening backwards, you can hear the "Nigerarenai" chant that now sounds like a warning. It's around 1:20 of the youtube video - Higurashi OP REVERSE. I absolutely did NOT figure this out myself, but just thought it was really neat and clever how the S2 opening is like a mini reveal/answer of the S1 opening and wanted to pass it along.
