First episode of a documentary series where I feature people and subjects that are interesting/exciting/cool to me. This one is about Jennifer Dorothy Lee, who is my Art History/East Asian Art professor at SAIC. She's one of my favorite teachers ever and I feel really lucky to be in her classes, and after some conversations with her I felt like she would be the perfect person to start the series with. Check out Jennifer's book, "Anxiety Aesthetics: Maoist Legacies in China 1978-1985" https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520393783/anxiety-aesthetics

Jennifer is super vulnerable, honest and funny in this and I feel really lucky to have got all this on video. She talks about her life, family, growing up Hapa/mixed race, her frustrations with the academic China studies world, and a bunch of other stuff. I really recommend watching the whole thing if you can.

This is my first foray into doing this sort of documentary work and I'm pretty proud of it. I'm trying to develop a certain style of going about it, which I'll keep developing as I make more installments. There's a bunch more episodes I have planned, I'm really excited about it. Hope you all like this one
