Is an itch.io account required now? Following the link and trying to allow itch.io to access Patreon does not work. If so, what's the purpose of the second option if you still have to have an itch.io account and connect it to your Patreon?

Unfortunately we have no control over how itch and Patreon integrate, so if a feature of theirs breaks or becomes harder to use, we have little recourse. I recommend using an itch.io account and the itch app for best results (smaller, automatic patches). Other than that, any answers will have to come from itch or Patreon. Sometimes the page can have temporary issues, so it might work better if you wait a bit, depending on the specific problem.
