It feels like it's been AGES, but I am so happy to get this to you before we move house! Thank you to everyone who has bought the book so far, and especially if you left a review on Amazon or Goodreads or B&N or...anywhere that does book reviews, really!

I really enjoyed this breakdown of the attempt at a flirty fight in this film. But romantic lead seems to be a weak spot for Armie Hammer. It doesn't go well for him either in romances with action accents or action films with romantic accents. Mirror Mirror, Lone Ranger, Man from UNCLE, it just doesn't go well. He's serviceable in On The Basis of Sex but his interactions there aren't about this sort of physical chemistry. His best try at it is probably the 2019 version of Rebecca and that's not a ringing endorsement. So, part of it might just be him. I will say the thing that actually bothered me about this particular breakdown is the contrast to Last Jedi that you actually cared about the arc that resolves itself (or should have) in the Throne Room scene. Kylo Ren is everything that didn't work about Prince Andrew Alcott cranked up to a Princess Bride 50 and about a dozen other terrible attributes besides. Far from being anything implied by the birth name Obiwan "Ben" Solo, Ren is personally and spiritually, everything that Total Recall's Quado appears to be physically. To wit, a weak, disgusting, homunculoid parasite. Now he (or the screenwriter) does a good job of shining the audience on for most of Last Jedi after a hateable and viscerally punchable debut. But by the end of the film the truth is inescapable. *sigh*

I also really enjoyed this. As an inexperienced person I really appreciated the technical breakdown. Thank you!
