Tidying! (Aka decluttering and organising if you aren't Slightly Kooky Tidying Pixie, Marie Kondo).

Happy New Year! Tidying up after myself still sucks! But less than it used to! Because there's less to tidy!

Sorry this is a bit late up on Patreon. My toddler broke my glasses, which are now held together with sellotape. This makes computer work a bit dicey because they move out of position quite easily and I get a sore head.

Ah well. I'm picking up my new glasses on Friday, hooray!

PS: Yes, in the interests of only doing things which actually feel joyful, I deleted my Twitter. Temporarily? Permanently? Dunno. The only thing I've missed in the last two weeks has been the Emo Kylo Ren account, so I'm in no rush to go back. :D

Spark Joy: Konmari 2 Years On | Stuff You Like 163

A brief review of Marie Kondo's Spark Joy, and an update on how well Konmari has persisted in my house two years after I finished tidying. Happy New Year everyone! And happy Get Organised Month in the USA!

With the full disclosure that I have not read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, the KonMari method seemed to work pretty well for me in all but one area of my life: books. I still have more books than I have space for books. But all of the books bring me joy. I can pick up a book that I have not read in years and immediately be transported back into my memories of reading the book. Thus: joy. It worked great for my clothes, records, and miscellany, though. Maybe not so much for my dishware and kitchen appliances either, but then I suppose those both fall under the "useful" category.
