Hi everyone! Sorry i've been so quiet this month. Nan Desu Kan, Denver CO's anime convention, is right around the corner! I've been busy all month making new products for it. I leave next Thursday morning and get back Monday. After that, I'll begin posting and streaming like normal again. Next month is double the streams because I'll be painting both August and September's Patron Pick Poll winners!

I'll post a few more times before I leave, but I wanted to post this Skullgirls animation to announce something very exciting - I am working on Lab Zero Games' (creator of Skullgirs) new action-rpg Indivisible! Unfortunately I can't show anything I'm making for it for quite some time, but some of the animations I am doing for it you will be able to see in the playable demo when the Indiegogo launches this year!

Now, a little bit about Big Band's animation you see here - this was one of Big Band's more complicated moves. Big Band himself is already a very large and complicated character that requires the use of 3D assist for some of his more rigid parts - basically anything brass. And in this move, he's taking up a good chunk of the screen blasting his opponent with his massive... tuba.

Animating on this scale can prove challenging at times - it's important when working on large pieces like this to zoom out a lot and make sure everything is working together. The most tedious part is definitely all the smaller details, but when everything comes together it's worth the effort. Large characters like Big Band also can put on a very powerful and striking silhouette - Overblow is a good example of this.
