I really want to know why they're ripping themselves apart, are they trying to create some sort of "Super-Protogen" the "Ennardgen", or are they simply suicidal? Do they get constantly rebuilt and downloaded into those rebuilt bodies after this, is it for their own enjoyment? Are these scenes of them ripping themselves apart in a simulation?

Candy gore is a particular art style showing a mix of gore & cute aesthetics, normally vibrant or pastel colours. There's no particular reason as to why (The pulling of guts, lacerations etc) but to show gore as goopy, candy or melty manner! It's mainly just for aesthetic purposes!~

As someone who loves candygore as well as Cedar did a couple pieces for me, it's exactly just that: Aesthetics! It's just a fun, silly, visceral piece meant to have striking visuals and a lighter take on your typical gore! I like to usually have my characters looking pretty happy in candy gore pieces. It's also a good way to show what their innards may look like if they are supposed to be colored (which they are for mine and my characters) so that if traditional gore (like meant to be somber) is done they can see what it looks like! I don't ownt he arcana piece above but I do own the Hex and Render ones, and the Xray views for them and Pitaya ^^ They're just for fun. A little bit personally for me /is/ some suicidal feeling, so it makes a good vent thing to look at and have done.
