In 1996, Sega released Iron Storm, an alternative history strategy game based on the long running Daisenryaku series for the Saturn. One of the game's designers, Masahiro Hinami, would go on to join the newly created Konami Computer Entertainment Studios, which was created in August of 2000 though the merger of Konami's Sapporo and Yokohama branches.
