I've been thinking about it, and there is the possibility of Rhea not getting more Pokemon from her mother and finding them later on.  It would mean they wouldn't be as cool or crazy, but we can do the whole find and befriend in the wild.

Although it would make for a more fulfilling and possibly more fun journey on your MC didn’t you already state that her mom was giving her, her entire initial team as eggs

It is possible to have more than six which can be used for different purposes. We could have some meant for more contest stuff and others for battling

I think the team primarily for battling should be eggs as I feel like any wild pokemon would be vastly overshadowed by the egg pokemon possibly causing conflict. Although regular wild pokemon would allow Rhea to be on a more level playing field with her friends. It depends on if you plan on Amira and Mallory getting another egg or two.
