HYPERPOP IS BACK BABY! and with a nice songwriting kind of twist. This Saturday we tackled the brand new sophomore album from underscores. My buddy adam always tells me to check these kinds of albums out because of how much cool production stuff is in them but even from a songwriting POV this album was wonderful. Lots of energy so definitely be prepared to rage. I'll have my review up on AOTY fairly soon :)

Had a crazy busy weekend so I only just now got to watch the stream lol Thank you for listening to God Is Really Real! I’ll put some other personal thoughts on the song in a reply if anyone is interested. But i’m just glad you got to see another side their songwriting/producing. I’ve always loved that they can bring the goofy/sarcasm/satire and the serious tones throughout their albums. Loved the stream!! Hyperpop is one of my faves but Taylor and Olivia have been taking up most of my streaming for the last few months so now I have a lot of new music to listen to!

So as far as God Is Really Real, I put that song in the same vein as like Soon You’ll Get Better by Taylor Swift. I’m never going to listen to it regularly just because it’s so sad and so personal but I think it’s also relatable for people who have gone through their parents being very sick. They turn to God or karma or anything that could somehow make the situation better, even if they never believed in those things before or stopped believing after. I was also confused by that last part on my first listen but after another couple listens my own personal interpretation is that they wrote that part maybe when they knew their dad wasn’t going to make it? And in those moments, sometimes people don’t want to accept that or they’re scared that every moment with this person is their last so maybe saying “I love you” is too hard because what if it’s the last I love you? Why would you dwell on the negative feelings when you’re with one another, and instead let’s pretend like everything’s fine because accepting the fact that that person will be gone soon is too much and too painful. That’s just my own personal interpretation. I had a family member pass recently when they were still young and so I can kind of see where these emotions are coming from.
