can’t believe i missed this stream 😭😭 i was in the middle of class but i felt it in my soul that hozier was coming soon

Jess Naegele

I love this album, definitely need to sit with it more. Wasteland, Baby was just so good it’s hard to top. Would love to see your reaction to that one at some point too!! :)

Jess Naegele

also fit is fitting

abby bridges

The album is so good!! Aside from the singles (bc I have already been listening to them) I have had First Time and Abstract (Psychopomp) on REPEAT! I hate I missed stream yesterday - I was in class :/ also fit is fireeee

Melanie Martinez

troy if you liked this you need to go listen to his other albums because they’re just as ethereal and the mood is so dang good

Hannah

literally got so excited when i saw this video was up!! ive been waiting for Hozier

Maryn Levi

TROY. I cannot even express how excited this made me! Hozier is phenomenal and you MUST listen to his other 2 albums

Larice Faulhaber

I literally cannot stop listening to this album. So glad you got to listen to it. The other albums are so good as well! 10/10 recommend

Nova!!

My favorite thing that really gets me about abstract (psychopomp) specifically is that when he says “the earth from a distance, see how it shines” it can also be interpreted to be talking about how its humanity’s innate kindness that makes the earth shine like it does. It shines because WE make it so

Molly Curran

Omg you have to listen and react to the self titled album, legitimately a no skip album for me.

Abbey Cloonan

Love that you totally forgot we already listened to some of the singles off this album ahahhahah

Alyssa Oman

WOW I can't believe I hadn't listened to this yet! I was completely and utterly obsessed with Wasteland, Baby so it's a crime I didn't listen to this album sooner

Shannon Werntz

I'd like to personally beat up the person at Pitchfork who gave this album a 5/10 bc WHAT

sophie

yayyyy everyone say thank you troy!! i didn’t think you were going to make a video on this album so this was such a good surprise:)

Maria

I am completely convinced you did this for me because I see Hozier live in 2 days! I can not wait to watch your reaction!

Shelly Dey

Been waiting for this ever since the album came out, haven;t been able to listen to anything other than this album for WEEKS

sophie

coming back to say that i know you’ll choose the albums you want to listen and react to on the channel, not just what people are asking for and i respect that. buuuut,,, if you do decide to make a video on self titled and/or wasteland baby, a lot of us, myself very much included, will definitely be tuning in and supporting! in general I don’t really see a whole lot of hozier reactions on youtube so whenever someone new joins that little community it’s such a treat!

Emily Isom

Ok you HAVE to tell us where those overalls, necklace, and hat are from. ABSOLUTE FIRE FIT BRO!!!

Jules Wilder

obsessed with the fit, also loveeeee seeing your reactions! the gaeilge attempt gave me a good giggle

Aisling

I Iove the verse as Gaeilge (in Irish) because it means there's verses I can sing in 2 languages and be confused about the meaning in 2 languages!

Jessica Wells

This album is a masterpiece!! You should check out is other two albums, his self titled debut, and wasteland baby. I get the feeling that the deeper meanings go over your head, it’s the same for me. But Hozier for me is more about the emotions the songs bring out and that’s how I enjoy his music

Twyla

if you loved all things end, then you NEED to listen to nina cried power and no plan

Kat Humphries

does this mean we’ll be getting the other two albums as well and be fulfilling all my dreams? 🥹

Jaime

Please if you enjoyed this, visit his other albums 🥲

Shannon Alisee

My favorite song is definitely Francesca and the whole story behind it! It’s actually based on real people, Francesca was forced into a marriage with Giovanni but ended up having an affair with his brother Paolo. Giovanni murdered them both after finding out and in Dante’s inferno they are found in the circle of hell that takes the form of a hurricane to punish those who committed acts of Lust. But they were so in love their souls were still able to fly together instead of being separated by the cyclone. Also going to join in with everyone else and beg for a Wasteland Baby stream 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Troy, you HAVE to do Wasteland Baby! and his debut album now!!!

Megan Malone

Just a note for all the peeps, Irish people speak Gaeilge (pronounced Gwhale-ga) or you can just call it Irish and Scottish people speak Gaelic 😅

Ali Hooper

Don't get me wrong, I do LOVE this album, but it is still my least favorite of Hozier's. I am not sure if that is just because it is new and will grow on me more with time, but I would be interested in seeing you go backward through his discography to see if I am alone in thinking his previous work is just unbeatable.

Ali Hooper

i think what i struggle with here is that his previous two felt like he was performing them live just for you. it felt intimate and together where this album feels like you can hear him in the stu. like I picture him singing these songs in a booth mic where the other two it feels more like a live performance and more raw. idk if anyone would agree with that but that's how it feels to me

I’m so late to watching this stream and it is also very late at night while I’m writing this, but boy did I not expect to cry this much reading these lyrics and listening to these songs. Hozier has a way with words and as a poet working on a play inspired by Orpheus and Eurydice, this album just ripped my creative soul apart. All things end is my favourite, it reminds me of this quote from HadesTown that never fails to make me cry «To know how it ends and still begin to sing it again, as if it might turn out this time, I learned that from mine.»

Alli H

I’d love to see a reaction to the Maren Morris/Hozier Crossroads episode!

Grace

Please Troy I’m begging of you bust the self titled and wasteland baby albums by hozier you’ll LOVE them

Megan Esler

I’m Irish and we say Gaelic ( gay-lick) ….maybe pronunciation depends on which part of Ireland your from ? Idk

emma 🌷

Teryn Gray

I've been dying for you to react/review Hozier for years -- and this video is what finally got me to join the Patreon. So stoked with this one. You should def listen to the other albums!

Mai

I loved the whole video. I joined the Patreon just for this and it was worth. Although, a moment of silence for my favorite song that should've been in that album "Through me(The flood)". I shall never recover.

Eamon Brannigan

I joined patreon just to watch the full stream of this, i saw the yt video and needed more

Emmalia Moorhouse

You have to listen to Wasteland, Baby next. It's everything you loved about this album and more: blues, gospel, incredible guitar playing, insane time signature shifts, uplifting folk and more.

Thomas McGowan

You definitely need to listen to the other albums now too, totally worth it

Izzy Kanhere-Craig

I’ve been a massive hozier fan for 8 years, and I went to The Unreal Unearth tour, and you’ve explained this album so beautifully. I’d really REALLY love to see your reaction to his other work, because I know you’ll love it. Also, both Hozier and Ethel 𝐜𝐚𝐢𝐧 are fans of one another! ;)

Aliyah

Happy Dreamy

Will you listen to gis other two albums??? Please say yes 🥺🥺🥺

Megan Whitehead

You haaaaaaaaaaaaaaave to review his other albums

katarina

You just crack me up so much, man, I had to make a freaking patreon account and subscribe. I love deep diving through the albums with you, makes me appreciate the music even more. And the small artists thing you're doing is awesome. Just wanted to thank you for making me laugh like an idiot in a crowded tram on my way from work today with your reactions to this one hahahah I appreciate you. So thank you Troy, you're a gem.

Emily Faith

Anna Margulies

Sosososo late to this, but to answer a few questions on “To someone in a warm climate” 1)after the Irish were taken over by the British, they were forced to adopt their alphabet as well as the language, so a large form of protest to this is that no Gaelic is spelled phonetically. They use the alphabet sure, but not in the “right way” 2) I always think bedframe like Odysseus’s and Penelope’s bed that was grown out of a literal tree. I don’t know if this is the correct interpretation, but something about the line reminds me of the stability of their bedframe
