welp, it's finally here! Speak Now Taylor's Version has dropped and here is our 3 HOUR STREAM of us listening to pretty much all of it. Before you get right into I'd like to say that by the end of the stream, I was definitely suffering from listening fatigue. It's a long-ass album y'all lol I'm trying to do my best. I would like to clarify some takes I had though so feel free to stop reading and then watch to come back to this part.
1. I retract my skip on BTD, I just didn't know how to vibe to it but I do now. stellar song. (love you taylor lautner <3)
2. speak now (song) still cringe lol I will die on this hill.
3. the enchanted skip is honestly just so personal to me because I heard the Owl City response cover of the song and when he sang "Taylor it was SOOoooo enchanting to meet you too" that is... outlandish levels of cringe. like oh my god dude... even if the song WAS written about you, do NOT insert yourself into the narrative like that just... no stop... please... but yeah. the song is good and cute but I can't unremember that. shame on you owl city, shame.
3. Haunted... oh boy... okay. so my main issue with Haunted is that it doesn't feel like ANY of the tracks on the album. I feel like it works way better in playlists with other "Twilight-esk" "emo" songs. Other than that, I still jam but when im going through the album to find my favs - it's a skip.
4. Last Kiss - intro is too long and to me, the song just feels super drawn out with the slow tempo. It just makes it a bit harder to feel but again, this is me suffering from ear fatigue so WHATEVER! WHO CARES!
5. THE DAMN SPOTIFY NORMALIZE WAS ON... so i saw a tweet about how some people were having the same problem with the loudness of the tracks and that Spotify has this button that makes all the songs that play relatively the same volume so that the levels don't fluctuate too much. I had actually known about this button and had turned it off MONTHS AGO but for some reason (i think when my Spotify app updated) it turned it back on and thus affecting my listening experience. big bummer but just disregard anything i say about volume or levels. all the history about old-school pop-punk recordings is legit tho.
and just a friendly reminder that these are all my own personal opinions and by no means am I saying that your feelings towards these songs are wrong. The beautiful thing about music is that we can all interpret it differently and have our own lives and experiences reflected through a collective community of music lovers.
I have a blast every time we cover Taylor on the channel or on the stream. And each time we do cover her, my life changes which I'm eternally grateful for but at the same time can also be a lot to deal with. And honestly, I really love my simple little life. I love our corner of the internet and I'd like to keep it relatively small. I really like Taylor's songwriting but there are so many other talented artists out there that deserve to be listened to on the channel so moving forward with this month's streams I only want to do artists with under a million monthly listeners. I can't wait to jam with yall to some of my favs!
