welp, this one freakin hurts. We listened to the new Lizzy mcalpine album "Older" on stream yesterday and yeah, it broke my heart multiple times in the best way possible. If you enjoyed listening to Ryan Beatty, this album was produced similarly. Just make sure you grab the tissues.

I was in a Spotify listening party with Lizzy and she talked a lot about how the first producer she went to wanted to make a lot of changes to the songs that she thought didn’t sound as good. That’s why she changed producers and they respected what she thought was best. One really funny detail is that, in the outro of Drunk Running, she added a voice memo from her ex.

If I’m remembering correctly, some of the things the old producer wanted to remove was the woodwinds in All Falls Down, that one really loud part of All Falls Down, the long outro of Drunk Running, etc. The only good thing Lizzy mentioned about them is that he was the one who helped and encouraged her to finish writing Older.

I'm being so genuine when I say that lizzy is the one artist that pulls the deepest feelings, ones I'm not even aware of that I feel, out of me. No other artist connects with the things I have gone through so deeply, she puts so many of the things I can't explain for myself into words and I so wish I could just sit and cry with this mf cause damn. It's such an honor to live in a timeline with such talented individuals, truly her music makes me feel like I'm going to burst in the most bittersweet, homey, way.

If this album make you feel this emotional I highly recommend her previous album give me a minute and her live ep when the world stopped moving. The emotions. The lyrics. Give me a minute came out during COVID and it had such a emotional impact of me like no other media did at the time. The ep was recorded live and it hurts but it's beautiful
