The device looks like an anachronistic word processor from an alternate future. It is clearly homemade and constructed out of jumbled pieces of old machinery, equipment, and vehicles. It has a bulbous black and white screen and an inset, 1980s typing keyboard.

It was built by a young man named Manny Reneteur nearly a decade after an almost fatal car accident left him in a coma for 22 days at the age of 12. After that coma, Manny was never wholly the same again; in- stead, he mumbled, kept to himself, and built his machines...or more precisely different versions of the same machine, over and over again.

The device represents Manny’s last construction, built in the fall of 1983, before he was killed in a house fire.
