Hey guys, I've started running a new Delta Green operation called, AND THE DARKNESS SPOKE, set in Queens, New York, in 1986. We'll be playtesting it on Roll20.net, as well as (eventually) live-streaming it. You can watch episode 1 on Youtube here.

But more interesting is the CREATION of such work. I've attached the (very much work-in-progress) chain of clues for the operation. This is the skeleton with which I build an operation before writing it. It contains clues, connections, rules, and annotations (as well as what leads to what) in the operation.

I almost always start with something like this when creating a new operation (I use either a program called Scapple or Omnigraffle). I find this stuff super useful in getting it in shape before I start filling in the skeleton of the writing. I'm hopeful this map might give fledgling Handler's a leg-up in making new operations.

And to my players: KEEP OUT.

Here's a PDF of the operational map (not complete, but enough to run the scenario).

Even better, if you guys would like to chat about particulars on operational creation, I'm all ears and will try to answer what questions I can.

I'd love to see more behind-the-scenes stuff like this on how you build an operation.

Kind of a basic question, but what software are you using to create clue maps like that? Seems like a very useful way to map it out.

Hey Sam! I’m on a Mac most of the time so I use Omnigraffle or Scapple!

Thanks! And it looks like they have Scapple for Windows, so might be worth a look.
