The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update+ 01/May/2020 (Patreon)

As it's the first of the month, I would usually do my monthly goals, especially as I am now in the thick of writing once again!
But with Book Two's release so close, I'm kinda focusing all my energies on that right now :D
This week was great! Did quite a bit to help keep my mind off of just anxiously counting down the hours of each day, hehe!
Now I finished all the pre-made character, recap stuff, I jumped into chapter one of Book Three! And man...I am off the charts excited already!
It's an opening I've been planning since the days this was gonna be a novel series, but obviously it's adapted now. Instead of the simple opening, it is actually a split scene depending on your MC's points.
I also implemented a subroutine which checks who the MC is currently closest to using the friend points. It took ages to code and test, but doing that now will mean it saves time and confusion later, especially as Book Three really starts the path of 'BFF' routes.
Chapter one is far from simple, with a whole bunch of split scenes already. But start off as you mean to go on, right? Lol ;D
It's just SO nice to get back to the writing! I'm already feeling totally at home and comforted getting back to these characters and this world.
For Curse of Creek Edge, I still haven't narrowed down the hairstyles for the MC sprite! I wanted all hairstyles to be open to all genders, which is working well, but also makes the style count super high. Hoping I can keep them all though and work it to fit on the screen somehow. That'll probably be my next task before spending the time colouring them all just to have to scrap some.
Also nearly done with another background, and looking forward to moving onto some sprites in the next couple of weeks!
So yeah, a busy week!
Next week I will be focused on release and getting stuff up together for that and being on call in case Hosted Games needs anything!
But we're getting that much closer now....!!!

For Update+ this week, I thought I would share another thing I implemented in Book Three:
For now it's a very basic way to track how the MC is doing/feeling about supernaturals in each book.
This means if say your MC is getting on well in Book 2 and 3, but then something happens in Book 4 and your MC switches to fearing/disliking them, then the stats can track that. Or if it's bad and then starts gradually growing, etc.
It'll get more complex as the books go on, but hopefully it'll really help add those personal variations into the story to make it individual to your MCs!
(Also, I realise I have two else return statements. One is gone now, lol!)
Hope you all have an amazing weekend, and I'll talk to you next week! <3
