Alright, basic rundown of Clark and his history with social issues. He was created in 1938 by two Jewish immigrants. Most of his early stories dealt with slapping around crooked land lords, war profiteers and the like. This is represented in modern canon with the idea that Clark's earlier days were a bit rougher around the edges before he started to get a perspective on the weight of his power and presence and how that can stoke spite and create enemies for good causes. He still puts his endorsement behind good and speaks out against people doing wrong, but humanity has to be willing to address its own issues without a super powered overbeing forcing them to. Furthermore, fictional character Superman is the reason that the real world Ku Klux Klan lost much of its power and influence in America. The Superman radio show put them full on blast and basically turned them into an object of ridicule over the course of a few weeks.
