Production update 2023-07-14 (Patreon)

Hello everyone!
I'm sorry I didn't deliver on the promised update before I left for PACE. I am back now though, and I have to say I had an absolute blast at PACE! It felt like old GDQs which is definitely a great thing. I met plenty of people, made new friends, and it was so much fun seeing the SMB1 setup by FlibidyDibidy and commentating races live!
Speaking of that, I meant to make a vlog about it. I have some footage, and I must admit I wasn't as diligent as I should've been, but I have enough to make a quick video on my second channel. I just need to actually do it! Kicking myself in the ass to actually do the damn thing is the hardest part, even though it should only take me a couple of hours to put together.

So how did that go? The response was incredible from everyone, so I'm really happy and grateful. It launched initially at an insane speed, gathering 100,000 views in just 24 hours, something I'm not sure has ever happened to me before. It took barely over a week to reach 300,000, and although it did slow down a lot since, it's still sitting at a very solid 360,000 views after a month.
As is usually the case with my content, CTR (Click-through rate) is fairly low (~3%) but average watch time is good (40%). I'm not great at making compelling titles and thumbnails, especially while trying to avoid clickbait. On that note, I did receive some vitriol about the face used on my thumbnail, but I stand by that Suigi's reaction is a relevant element of the run.

But enough talking about the past. How is my current project going? Well, I did take a while to start: the whole week before PACE, I was kind of in limbo where I felt like I couldn't start a new project and immediately leave, I felt unprepared for PACE, and the idea of making a vlog and doing live commentary was kind of stressing me out, so I didn't really start until after I came back. But I did start on Monday, and it's been going great!
I fleshed out the whole outline and wrote about 80-85% of the script. With that done, I'm also ready to start planning out the actual production as well.
Blue = script, green = recording, purple = editing, others are various stuff.
As you can see, it's fairly lightweight. The whole video is expected to last around 25 minutes this time, so it should definitely be a shorter project. There will be a lot of new music, so that will take a bit longer than usual. I'm also giving me a bit of a buffer so that the August 11th release date is easier to hit. Depending on how things go in the next couple of weeks, I could possibly push that date up a bit, or possibly release an early version on Patreon a few days in advance. There are multiple possibilities here.
I'm giving myself two days to replicate the run relatively closely as a TAS, and also two days for each of the longest sections of the video, hence the "empty" days. I'll be out of town next weekend but there's also a decent chance my other weekends are taken by various activities, so I might take a day during the week to sit down and figure out precisely what music I want to use in this video. It'll be a lot of GoldenEye, but I might tap into other music - not including Turok 2's Port of Adia would be a crime because it's one of my favourite pieces to play.
I think I'm gonna post my next update when the TAS demonstration of the run is done, so hopefully on July 19th. See you then!
