Production update 2022-03-22 (Patreon)

Hello everyone!

Apologies for the silence. I let time slip by without realizing it.

So, unfortunately, progress has not been great recently. I set myself a bit of a rough schedule and I very quickly fell behind and lost momentum. I think I can pinpoint the moment I lost motivation to when I realized that Part 5 would be 45+ minutes long, whereas for the better part of the script writing process, I expected it to be under 40. 

This extra 20% in length doesn't seem like much, but to me, it's the difference between a project of manageable size that I'm demonstrably able to complete within a single month, and a mountain of work that drags on with no end in sight. When I reach 10 pages or 30 minutes, it should feel like I'm nearly done, but to think that is not even two thirds of the way through is disheartening. I think that for me, the sweet spot of video length is 30 to 40 minutes, and lately, I've been making lots of 45-50 minute ones that crush my motivation.

Recording also grinded to a halt when I developed a canker sore on my lower lip. I get those regularly, although I have noticed they have become more uncommon than they used to be. It was extremely painful to move my mouth, especially when articulating well or eating, for 10 days. It only really began to heal yesterday, so I think recording can resume tomorrow.

Okay, that being said, how much progress did I make? Well, it's actually not that bad! 

I haven't updated the schedule, and so the completion date looks ludicrous right now. I don't know how I want to remake my production schedule yet. I do know that I will be out of town for 4 or 5 days next week, so there will be a pause in progress at that point.

I can still show a couple of things I've made so far that look cool!
