Production update 2022-02-13 (Patreon)

Hello everyone!

First, I want to thank all the new Patrons. Lots of people joined in the past couple of weeks, and I can now announce that I officially reached 200 patrons! 

So, from now on, this will be a feature of my Patreon at Tiers 2 and 3. Livestreams will probably be on Saturdays, about twice a month or so, and they will last roughly 4-6 hours, give or take. You can expect about 2 to 4 streams per video release. I did a test stream on December 29th and it went well! This is what you can expect from those streams.

For now, I don't have any other goal in mind. I don't think goals are necessarily what motivate people to subscribe anyway. I'm open to suggestions as to what you guys would like. It has to be reasonably doable without adding too much on top of my existing workload, so some things like Patreon-exclusive videos or fully formatted sheet music of every piano arrangement I've made are off the table.

The Mario Kart 64 video's release was extremely good! My strongest release yet, I believe. Unfortunately, it did slow down considerably afterwards, but it's still ranking in the better half of my recent videos.

I've played around with the title a bit. "Pausing Breaks Mario Kart 64" was my original title, but to keep the mystery for the premiere, I used "An Unsolved Mystery for 23 Years Finally Uncovered" as an alternate title. It ended up getting me a really good CTR (Click-through rate - the % of people who see the thumbnail that click on it), so I kept it around for longer. But the other title seems to yield pretty much the same results, and I like it better, personally - feels a bit less clickbaity and more to the point.

Current plans

For the next couple of weeks, I will be working on this super exciting project that I can't wait to tell you guys about. What I can say for now is that it will only concretize in the summer, but it will eventually become a YouTube video, and the format will be quite different to what I've done so far. I'm hoping to be able to tell you by the end of the month, but I don't have a date yet: I'm waiting on other people for this.

So, there might not be an update for a week or two. I'll be in the writing process, and there won't be much for me to say. 

Next video

As for the next video, I can't say if it's going to be SM64 ABC Part 5 or something else, simply because I don't know myself. There are two speedruns that I've been considering for a while now, and I might take a bit of a break from SM64 to do one of them before going back to the series. Regardless, I will most likely begin working on that video in late February, when I'm done preparing this other project.

That means production streams will most likely begin sometime in early March. I will probably not stream the research/script writing part of a video, so streams will be more in the back half of production than the front half.

Music

Finally, I was a couple of days late, but I made the Mario Kart 64 music available for Tier 2+ Patrons. I hope you enjoy! I'll also release the SMRPG river music publicly soon. I think in the future, instead of going on a video basis for releasing the music, I'll always release it a few weeks later, regardless of video releases. So, you can expect the Mario Kart 64 music to be available by the end of the month, and the SMRPG river music to be out within a week or so.
