Stealth Potato

No matter what else Nisemonogatari and this arc may be this last episode is really something else. There's a lot to be said about the various conversations and philosophy in this episode but I especially love how this arc in a way ends up characterising Kaiki more than anyone else. By the end of Karen Bee we see Kaiki as some middle aged con man who only betrays a hint of supernatural knowledge when he can sense Shinobu in Araragi's shadow as well as half of the hypnosis he took from Karen. But now given this episode there's some seriously interesting stuff with the idea of the fake exorcist who just happened to be in the occult research club with people who all ended up becoming real exorcists and who believes a fake is better than the real thing. Really glad you got the subtitles and stuff sorted out, the only thing I still noticed that was weird was one but of Japanese text that wasn't translated when Kagenui was talking about unlimited rulebook that said something like "A rulebook filled entirely with exceptions". It's odd since other pieces of japanese text (one in the eyes of Araragi earlier on I think I saw) are translated. Not something worth worrying about and this current setup is great, hope it keeps working for the rest of the series.
