Great reaction Zen! Knew you would like the first episode! This episode is easily my favourite first episode to any anime. Cross game is easily in my top 10 favourite anime, probably top 5. It has loveable characters, subtle developments, intense sporting action and a lot of chill slice of life moments (my favourite genre). I don't play/watch baseball, it's not really a thing played in my country but I still loved this show regardless. Sadly it's too unpopular to win a poll even if it makes to one but I would love to see it win one day
