When the King went off with the Royal guards I thought it was interesting that he was the shortest one among them. But he still has such an imposing presence

So I'm not sure why no one shared this information to you yet, but the anime left out important information about Gyro (the NGL leader you mentioned). You should read chapter 204 of the manga to see this information (it's safe to read). Basically Gyro has nothing to do with the ant king, he was already reborn as an ant before this but he kept his human memories and left the queen. The manga also implies that he will meet Gon eventually. Also I don't know if you noticed it and just didn't feel the need to mention it, but Killua said in the end that he is leaving Gon after he protects him for the 30 days, sad stuff.. Anyways a fantastic episode, probably the biggest one since the one Kite died in, can't wait for more.
