Visual Novel First Draft (Patreon)

Weird rambling explanation incoming.

I was really struggling with what to write for this visual novel thing. Originally I had wanted to do something kinda Hatoful Boyfriend ish, but I wasn't really feeling very inspired and couldn't get a plot hook going. So then I thought it might be fun, as a nerd, to do a VN style recap of one of my D&D games. Unfortunately, the way that story starts is great when you're playing, but not great as a story experience. So eventually I settled on the idea that I'd do little one-shot introductions of the characters first, before jumping into the main story.

All this is to say that this is essentially a short story introduction of my character XVIII and how he meets up with some of the very bizarre cast.

This was pretty heavily inspired by The New Albion Radio Hour presents Astonishing Tales of the Highly Improbable. That's kind of the inspiration for the format and having a host/narrator, which is very weird for a visual novel. However I suck at dialogue, I don't like writing it, I'm not good at it, so this just felt a lot more natural to write.

Also because this is kinda short compared to what I was originally intended, I think I'm going to try and get some sprites done and actually put it into Ren'py, add some sounds and see if I can get this into a complete 10-15 minute VN format. But that might change too, I'm in a very weird place creatively right now and I don't know what to do about it.
