Dawn of the Dead - re:View

When there's no more room in Hell, Mike and Jay will discuss the George A. Romero zombie classic Dawn of the Dead and manage to avoid using the phrase "social commentary" the entire time.

Wow, thats quick. I would think it would take longer before you guys would release the Re:View, since you only announced yesterday that the commentary track was turning into a Re:View. Good work, guys ! What a pleasant surprise. I still think a commentary track would be better though, 2 hours of you guys blabbering together would be great. Especially when the discussion diverges into Star Trek, as it always does hahah

Is Jay's Freddy Krueger sweater a coincident?

Good re:View as always. Still think this one's the best zombie movie (you hit on most of the reasons why) but you made me want to re-watch Day of the Dead.

You're right. It may not be to modern movie goer tastes, but it does have an important place in the genre's history and it's still entertaining.

One of the better re-views so far, or maybe it's just because i love dawn.

I agree about the blood effects being really vile and add to that the music which gives off a weird queasy vibe.

Oh! Maybe you guys know! When I was living in Japan, many people said they thought Romero was inspired by "Minamata Disease" aka severe Mercury poisoning which killed many people in a rural Japanese fishing village and peaked in the 1950's. Cats, birds and humans behaved erratically, lost feeling in their limbs which made them appear to shamble, and sometimes even went mad before dying horribly. It does make me curious if this is just a Japanese rumor or if it's true!

Another great re:View guys, and your new set with red curtains seems prime for some sort of TWIN PEAKS re:View discussion and /or parody

If you're into zombies and gore, if you haven't seen it, give a watch to Lucio Fulci's "Zombie" (now on Amazon Prime). Good stuff.
