Best of the Worst: Blindfold Picks!

For the very first and last time, the guys pick VHS tapes while blindfolded. What horrors await... ah whatever. Movies watched: The Incredible Melting Man, Starship, and Lady Avenger

awesome, thanks!! <3

Lance Batty

My Sunday just got 1,000 times better

Steve

Is the gimmick that they watch the films blindfolded?

Best of the Worst: Hostage Edition

James Murphy

What a lovely Sunday treat

Eli Harold

I love falling asleep to BOTW and then waking up and seeing that a new BOTW is out.

[insert postponed suicide joke here]

Amanda Foster

I am the mother to a toddler child who needs all the sleep she can get, yet I am awake at 5:30 in the morning to watch people watch movies lol. The incredible melting man is a classic! Also, you can buy an Incredible Melting Man-dle candle on the internet

Marvin Falz

The cover of Starship looks interesting. I wonder if my expectations are met. In any case, thank you RLM!

YESSSS MY PRECIOUSSSS

Manuel Johnen

A better batch of films than usual... I actually know all of them. Good picks.

Manuel Johnen

For a great horrible movie experience, I also recommend Bill Rebane's "Demons of Ludlow", proudly and prominently displayed on the shelf behind Mike...

Manuel Johnen

And I see, they do have "Xtro II", too... I wonder why they haven't done that one (and part III) yet, considering how much they liked the first one... :/

Outstanding, thank you for your work.

HAW HAW RICH FAW DOWN.

Dingo & Shep

Did Rich make it home in the cold?! And with his stability problems?

Mike's Cologuard song killed me 😂

I was so sad that Superninja got replaced on the shelf.

That big dump truck in Starship looks an awful lot like Megaweapon from Warrior of the Lost World.

Manuel Johnen

I'm slightly disappointed they didn't mention that "Starship" (or as I know it, "Redwing") was directed by the same guy who did "Battlefield: Earth" or that Peter Gabriel (yes, THAT Peter Gabriel) appears in it and does a weird music number...

I hope I get a chance to watch this before the world ends.

I know you guys have the tedious job of watching horrible movies that are boring as f--k but we appreciate all you do. I hope to see every movie on those shelves make it into a BOTW (I offer my condolences in advance).

Me 10 years ago: Lol, where the hell do they get these weird movies from. Me now: I have all of these on Blu Ray!

Anonymous

The next gimmick will be that they watch them in a coma

Anonymous

It has been mentioned before, but it bears repeating... Rich Evans truly is the master of "boobery".

Kurt

Do I have other stuff to do? Hell yes! Am I doing it? Hell no!

Nice to see Jack. I've missed him.

Anonymous

I'm so happy to see this! I can't wait to watch. Thanks for all you do lads.

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

1/3-PO. I was literally thinking last night that it's been way too long since you released a new BotW!

Also I'm willing to offer you all free Australian accent training xoxo

Jack! Always great to see Jack again. Great episode. It was interesting to see the contrast in picking the movies. Jay seemed to know exactly what he wanted, Jack took his time, and Rich was like Jerry Lewis with ADHD.

I look forward to seeing Mike on Antiques Roadshow in 10 years with those Gremlins.

Rhea

Mike continues to reveal his kinks through his VHS Saw trap gimmicks. Yeahh I think my pick would've been Melting Man just based on the sfx and that location get. I hope you guys continue to fill your studio with gremlin friends. Oh and A+ YT thumbnail.

Munchman

That wasn't a truck they crushed n Starship... It's called a Ute! Also the guys wh ran the mine they borrowed the Earthmover from, would have encouraged them to crush a car (or Ute), coz ya know.. they are Aussies!

Thank you for this. It’s been a rough few months and your sacrifice makes me feel normal while I watch…I appreciate all of your efforts including clean up time from Rich’s spazz move.

JTruts

Great episode as always. Minor suggestion: the lighting in the round table, maybe a little too bright, especially on Rich and Jack. Also great catch on the buck rogers Twiki robot, I loved that show (I am that old yes...)

LOL, noticed this morning that another channel GoodBadFlicks just posted an exploring video on Incredible Melting Man today. It has a good amount of research and clip editing so it clearly just seems a case of coincidence. However, there is a lot of interesting stuff about the creation of the film and why it turned out so bad as it did. Here are some of the highlights: 1. Writer wanted it to be a tongue-in-cheek horror comedy throwback to old 50s monster films. Producers wanted a straight-up horror monster film with no comedy or such. 2. The first editor was friends with the Producers and lied about his resume. He wasted thousands of dollars from the production before the director was finally able to fire and replace him. That phone call split screen is one of the few things left in the film from that editor. 3. The whole Saturn mission was added by the producers. It was originally supposed to be Mars and only revealed at the very end of the film that the monster was an astronaut. That entire space capsule scene was added by the producers. The movie was supposed to open with the nurse running down the hallway. 4. Apparently, there were multiple melting stages in costume design designed by Rick Baker but the actor, who bragged about he was really big in Italy, refused to wear them because it was very uncomfortable. I am not saying Melting Man was ever going to be a good film. But there does seem to be a decent case that producer interference made the film a lot worse than what it ever could have been.

Michael Nuccio

Damn, that's one hell of a banger they got playing introducing Lady Avenger.

Starship is like the second movie on the 'Scavenger Hunt episode', I forgot what the movie was about in less than 5 minutes of the discussion. Just a gray-blah.

Kurt

I will always love Rich for picking Turtle Dreams.

I love RLM and love BOTW but….it’s starting to feel like the Elaine Warren character in the “Conjuring” universe….they can do it, but it’s taking a toll on them every time.

In some shots it looks as though Jay’s beer bottle has a straw in it. About the makeup/hair for the doctor and his wife, I kept thinking about the makeup for the TV news anchors in Batman (1989) when they can’t use cosmetics due to Joker’s chemical scheme.
