Oooo exciting

Matt Naylor

Colin’s back! Again!

Anonymous

It's gonna be great

Anonymous

Yeah Colin! And... Justin Bieber? Who's that guy in 3rd position?

Anonymous

Yessss!!! I knew you guys wouldn't let me down on this one! You've just made my day🤘

Anonymous

And the rest of my work day is ruined. I actually bought this on Black Friday from Vinegar Syndrome and still waiting on it! The pull is too strong. Must watch this now.

Lee

YAY the Spotlight BOTW episodes are my favorite!! What a delight this will be :D

Manuel Johnen

R,I,P Lina Wertmüller... director of "Lina Wertmüller's Killing Spree"... (or was it "Tim Ritter's Killing Spree", can't remember...)

Manuel Johnen

Also wanna say (no snark here or anything), Vinegar Syndrome is awesome... Yay, Vinegar Syndrome!

Anonymous

Ever since the Re:view for Dune, I've veen waiting for a BOTW with Colin from Canada.

Anonymous

Glad to see you guys discussing this film (probably solely thanks to Jay). Vinegar Syndrome did a great job finishing New York Ninja.

Brock Otterbacher

Saw this at Beyond Fest in October. It rules so much.

Anonymous

I now know that's Bieber but for a beautiful, nonsensical moment I thought it was Gorilla Interrupted era Mike

Anonymous

What a gift this was for all of us. Now, please, for the love of god, do Fight of Fury!

Anonymous

Thank you for your work. Also, happy holidays.

Michael Parker

Hooray! I've been rewatching Christmas BotW episodes as has become December tradition for me and the Second Chance vs. Magnum Force guy Richard Davis from the video highlight of Christmas 2020 apparently has a documentary coming out about him. I just found out, it's gonna be at Sundance!

Peter Varga

New York Ninja? more like New York Hell Yeah!

Marvin Falz

Thank you Red Letter Mike, Jay, Rich, Colin! ---- The fight scenes look like they had them choreographed, but filmed them before they had enough practice to make the movements look natural and flow easy without having to think about it first. Then the fights would look much better, even with only one camera position and zero cuts because they had only one shot to work with. But there's one great snap zoom-out, from the Ninja's face to the reveal of him being surrounded by his enemies.

isn’t the elephant in the room here that this is, in many ways, Samurai Cop 2? Vinegar Syndrome edited it, dubbed whatever worked, rewrote parts of the script, and created an entirely new ending. I wonder if you could take the entire shooting reel of any movie, and with funny editing, a new script, and new voice actors, edit it into something that looks “so bad its good”.

Aye, I got one of the film canisters for this that they sent out with the first few pre-orders! I wish they had hired legit voice actors for the movie but a its cool endeavor none the less.

what is the outro music from this episode? i like it

AllGoodNamesRGone

Really enjoy this episode. I think it may be up there with Last Vampire on Earth as favorite spotlight episodes. Also it's great to get these little nuggets of back story with Jay and Mike.

Bill Wilson

Rich Evans promoting his "Dick Holes" on the thumbnail? Oh you fraud! Great spotlight episode. New ground has been broken to the palate, or something. Got quite a lot of checks on the bingo card too: pointless anecdote, twin towers, Space Cop reference, rape, reoccurring actors...

Anonymous

The Rich Evans pitch shift effect was worth the price of admission. 25:55

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

This is one of the weirdest, most impressive things I've seen in awhile. So Vinegar Syndrome is responsible for like 50% of this movie's production. Very cool that they got someone like Cynthia Rothrock to voice one of the characters; it shows just how much they love 80's action B movies. The character you show on screen right after (Nita Liu) has a face that looks like a prettier version of Rothrock's (you know, less Bette Midler-ish). You guys should have someone from Vinegar Syndrome on BOTW some time, because they really seem to do what they do out of love for movies.

This was great and I'm glad everyone understood the point of Vinegar Syndrome finishing the movie.

This movie was definitely one of the more entertaining movie-watching experience I had this year. Absurd is a good word to describe it. Thank goodness for Vinegar Syndrome for taking on this challenge. Absolutely worth it. And cheers to you guys for another entertaining discussion. Lovely font at the end too.

Anonymous

God bless you guys.

PIG

Loved it. There were three DVDs on the table though. Are all the reactions for these other two great films going to be released later? Am I missing something?

Anonymous

This is a first for me - I purchased the movie. And, I purchased it after watching the opening minute with the roller skates. You had me at rollerstaking ninja ...

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

I consider it a tragedy that they took Rollergator off of the Plinketto board. A skateboarding alligator? Who doesn't want to see that?!?

Neil Peart, Lord of Drums

Can't believe nobody mentioned the Ninja III: The Domination playing at one of the theaters in the shot at 13:02. It had an actual theatrical release!

Anonymous

We just saw this for Kung Fu night at the local indy theater. It's f-ing insane.

Anonymous

So damn funny!! Also, love the synth track over the end credits, nice touch.

Silentphil9

My friends and I stopped watching it halfway through. We were so bored.

Rhea

Mike you look tired, take a nap. <3 I can't even imagine trying to do what these guys did, splicing together pure grade nonsense without audio or a script and having to make a semi-cohesive story out of it with full adr and foley. Could make a fun film school assignment though.

Anonymous

this was a little underwhelming to be honest, I’ll take whatever RLM content I can but New York ninja didn’t seem “spotlight” worthy

schopi

Watched the movie right before I watched the BOTW, and it was really entertaining. Bizarre, but entertaining, LOL. I particularly loved the glorious typical german and italian 80s style dubbing over actors with moaning and stupid one liners when they obviously don't even open their mouths.....

Jeff Kleist

It’s a glorious masterpiece of crap. It seems to also be Len Kabasinski approved ;)

Yngwie Tarantino

Stay tuned for Detective Doctor on CBS's new primetime lineup!

I love any movie with crispy footage of old NYC

Bort Ward

I've never stopped a discussion mid-way through just to buy the film. This looks like one of the greatest bad movies ever. Thank you for presenting it.

Jeremy Ross

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Vince Murdocco was one of the voices they used. He was the lead in LA Wars, which Jay even mentioned at one point.

Twit In A Hat

So is this a new kind of found footage film?

Kendel Fargo

You have solved all my Holliday shopping problems this year. Everyone gets a copy of New York ninja!!!!🎅🏿👍

Anonymous

I am going to go watch this movie after the review, looks fun.

Lisa

Yah, I hate to have to agree but it did give us an extra helping of Colin, which is never a bad thing.

Anonymous

Glad to see the guys having fun in this episode. The movie does look spectacular.
