I can't remember who said it, but they said that it's easier to think of the awards not as being for "the Best" acting (or Sound Design), but "the Most". So, yeah, probably JJL won't win because of *not* saying "Oh, f**********ck!!", because that's less, not more. I also tend to think that Best Picture tends to go to the film that most represents the American Dream (hence Rocky over Taxi Driver / All the President's Men / etc), which puts Steve Jobs right up there in the running, even though it's a dull film about a dull person having dull arguments in dull rooms...

One other thing - I rewatched Space Cop last night - seems that Rich Evans has lost a lot of weight since then. Well done, Rich! That's not an easy thing to do!

Gotta say I completely disagree with you guys on The Martian. I thought you were spot on with your complaints about Gravity, with the characters not acting or sounding like astronauts. In contrast, one of my favorite things about The Martian was how Damon's character remained calm and optimistic, and just worked every problem as it came up. It felt authentic to me, and it's how I would hope and expect real astronauts would act. I guess you could say it's more dramatically inert to tell a story that way, but I found it fascinating and frankly kind of uplifting.

I have seen a lot of similar feelings like Adam Savage at Tested.com who is a huge fan of the book. The problem for me is that the can-do optimistic character that people love is straight out of a 1950s propaganda film, and Andy Weir has kind of said the same. It's "The Right Stuff" character, and Mike has pinpointed the problem IMHO. Real people aren't like that, including real astronauts. If you dig into the back-history (i.e. beyond The Right Stuff or Nasa propaganda), a lot of astronauts had super dramatic and fucked up personal lives, my favorite is Buzz Aldrin becoming massively depressed and alcoholic after returning from the moon and ranting about how Nasa was using him.... it is not a joke at all to say that Ted Cooper in Space Cop seems like a more realistic character than Mark Whatney.

That guy was not reading anything off of his phone. He was taking video and pictures of her. This was confirmed by everyone in the room. You don't like her, you......interpret it how you want. Not how it is. It's ok not to like someone, (I don't like most people), but spreading rumors is just booooooo.!! #CHECKYOURFACTS

Anyone else get the Guys and Dolls theme stuck in your head?
