Star Trek Discovery Season 2 - re:View

Mike and Rich are talking about more Star Trek Discovery. How embarrassing!

About ducking time, you hack frauds!

So mike where’s your beard?

Mike St Louis

Been waiting for this. I’m less enthused about ST after season 2 of DISCO. But I’ll see what the experts say.

Rick Drake

Brought to my home internet machine by numbers and tiny particles. That's the power of math! I like science!

Benzite? She looks like a Barzan? They had mouth bits like that.

andrew

Mobile Suit Picard?

Anonymous

Holy fucking shit. I for real thought for a second that new Spock saying 'i like science' was Photoshop or some shit.

I checked out with all the tardigrade BS... We’re all perpetually stuck watching reruns of old Star Trek. Your point about warping the ship right into the middle of battles is spot on. There were some interesting moments in previous Star Treks as they approached their destination and the crew discussed how to tackle the situation at hand.

Jay laughing at the producer credits is the best thing ever.

wow, so glad I refused to keep watching STD since Season 1-4 episode. Sci Fi was genre for certain people. Now because the big film productions or networks wants a bigger audience the do action, corny drama, stories, not even well written in this case, with a sci fi coat of paint

Mike and Rich, why don't you start a whole ST franchise review series? I would love that.

Marvin Falz

Trekno babble was relatively easy to understand and if it wasn't scientifically accurate, at least it carried some interesting idea. I think Voyager is the first franchise where Trekno babble becomes often uninspired. In TOS "The Immunity Syndrome" the Enterprise encounters an alien force, which sucks all energy out of them, and they later discover that this alien is a giant space amoeba, out to destroy all galaxies, and the Enterprise becomes the antibody of their home galaxy. Kind of weird premise, but interesting idea.

that thumbnail is amazing btw, who made that? it looks like Rich is experiencing the stages of grief, only they're all just depression, which is incredibly fitting for STD :(

Just a decent recommendation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVjeYW6S8Mo

Creating a story set up with no thought of how it will arc to the end is classic JJ Abrams influence. Lost? Star Trek 2009? Star Wars The Force Awakens? 21 Producers who all want to be JJ Abrams with all the shortcomings that come with it. It's just painful to watch. Lazy storytelling.

Jay actually watching Star Trek Discovery season 2 with Mike and Rich after he was in a Star Trek themed skit with them? What is happening? Is Jay Bauman becoming a Star Trek fan in front of our eyes?

I CLAPPED

Andrew Burt

I LIKE SCIENCE TOO YA GREEN-BLOODED VAHLCAN FUCK

Logan Reiter

Please make a "Talking Trek with Mike and Rich" show and talk about real Star Trek.

Kellic

Oh. My. God. I was going to bittorrent season 2 because I refuse to pay for this shit. But thank you for saving me the time and effort. This looks like hot garbage. I'm calling it now. After the first 2 episodes of Picard tank they are going to introduce Picard, Hugh, and Q in a remake of Three's company. Mr Roper will be Robert Picardo.

I followed this easily and didn’t watch one minute of the show. Thank you for your sacrifice. Now re:View Orville!!! I really liked most of Orville this season... and I’m old school Star Trek like yourselves.

It's mindless entertainment, and better then most of other stuff on TV. Just gets way to much heat because they slapped a Star Trek on it.

Marvin Falz

Supplement: just watching "That Which Survives" and it's one example of a season 3 TOS episode where the writers didn't seem to know the characters, where the science is questionable, where everything is spelled out to the audience. One of those unfortunate episodes, where the premises are actually pretty interesting, but the execution is crap. Kirk is an asshole to Sulu all the time, Spock behaves like he's never encountered humans before, he's an asshole all the time too. Little left of the original Star Trek vision, but at least they didn't come up with ridiculous lines about how awesome science is and they payed off all the setups.

I love these videos with Rich and Mike talk about Star Trek

haha, just imagining this whole scenario play out in tos with the original bones is hilarious. The post above deserves more likes!

Haven't seen any of STD. Pretty much a TOS man, though I watched a lot of TNG and some DS9. But I was a kid for TOS, and that's what speaks to me. I enjoy a lot watching my imaginary friends talk about Star Trek.

Despite the spotty writing, Anson Mount's Captain Pike made the show watchable. I'm worried for next season.

Release the Rich Evans reacting to STD lineup in the thumbnail as a sticker pack for messaging apps pls.

Mike Bermingham

I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention the idiotic ‘anyone who mentions Discovery henceforth will be charged with treason’ thing that they used to try and explain the continuity problems.

You brave and hearty fools, torturing yourselves for our entertainment and edification. I thank you!
