Very cool

I thought it was an excellent movie, but I did not enjoy it at all. It just wasn't my taste. I had read The Southern Reach series, felt about the same, and was hoping that Garland would make it something better.

This is right up my alley : science-fiction, science, horror, intellectual vibe, women who do something else than talk about men on screen. I'm planning to see it this weekend. I will finish your video after!

Virtual signalling is only necessary on popular movies, duh.

I identified with Jay's description with the exception that I prefer scotch to brandy. Though I did actually see Annihilation in the theater!

It's much the same with people who say "they don't make good music anymore." If "they" means mainstream pop, then yes, it largely sucks now. But it's trivially easy now to find all sorts of excellent music online. People just don't want to get too far out of their wheelhouses in these cases.

They should have made techo song where demon lists all the characters. It worked for Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

"Mike, what episode of Star Trek did Annihilation remind you of?" Ahahah! In a way, the whole alien cancer thing reminds me of Evolution, the movie with David Duchovny. I think it was a nuke that accelerated the evolution of the alien DNA creatures to the point where everything merged into a giant amoeba. Anyway, I will probably watch this movie on Netflix someday when I'm bored.

one of the more depressing half in the bag vids...I loved it

I had a “Mike @ Thor: Ragnarok: experience. There was a row of drunk guys in front of us and an afternoon show and one of them was commentating throughout the entire damn thing. That bear scene was fucking great and that asshole had to go “FUCK YEAH” the moment it was over. So you know what, for once, nah. Fuck audiences, they don’t deserve a creepy cool movie like this.

I was very excited to see this as a lady who would like to see women doing things on screen (I liked the new Ghostbusters, don't @ me), but my friends warned me I'd have nightmares for weeks. As a squeamish person, I'm going to have to watch it at home and close my eyes during the icky parts. Sorry, box office receipts.

I was more than annoyed when i heard that i won't be seeing Annihilation in the cinema. More than annoyed. I was bloody stoked to watch it. And yes, it's kino

Yeah, this movie was great. It's so nice to NOT IMMEDIATELY PREDICT THE ENTIRE PLOT OF A MOVIE. The horror of this film ebbs and flows, but when it flows, holy shit does it fllooowwwww. I have the exact opposite opinion of Portman's performance. For the first fifteen minutes she sounds like she's capital R reading capital L lines, but the rest of the movie she's pretty good, IMO

My fiance and I laughed so hard at your intro for the film that we cried. Hats off.

After the last Ghostbusters lead female cast reboot, I thought this was a piece of sh-t movie but, at least it shows females have the right to generate crappy movies just like the guys can. With Annihilation , I agree with Mike’s point , the general media should have picked up this movie as the positive example of a mostly female lead movie can succeed artistically.

I regretted finishing the books so I'll probably skip the movie.

NF

interesting, why? I was about to start.

"So that's a joke that 5 people will get" Oh Mike & Jay, how little you know your audience.

I have a theory about why the episode 'Masks' is so bad. It's literally like one of the last episodes they ever did, and I reckon that Brent Spiner had bitched and moaned for SO many years about playing a character with the emotional range of a tea spoon, that the writers were like 'OK, Brent, you want emotion, we'll give you the FULL F**KING RANGE!' Maybe his agent was getting pissy about it, and with the first feature film coming up (which again Data gets all hormonal in), they needed Brent on board, so in an act of callus writing revenge they gave him the lead in Masks, which is SO bad it could feature on Best of the Worst!

I think I may be the only one who likes that TNG "Masks" episode

I missed "Masks" on its original airing. But it became one of those that seemed to always be on whenever I came across reruns. Still better than that clip show. Though not quite as amazing as when Dr. Crusher had an orgasm on screen with a ghost. You grab that ghost knuck Dr. C.

SPOILERS This is a prequel to Bodysnatchers.

I just watched this after watching the film on Netflix. And yea I fucking wish I could have seen this at my local Kino!

I didn't like it. The concept is amazing from a sci-fi point of view but the film doesn't do it justice!
