Zaraki wasnt going to release his restraints until she was dead. A unrestricted zaraki is a bigger asset then unohana and a restricted zaraki. So they gained alot more than they lose

I personally never believed that an unrestrained Zaraki could ever be better than having both Zaraki AND Unohana on the battlefield. It's a war, you need as many powerful assets as possible.
