2023-01-01 17:52:59 That A-Train energy drink advertisement shoot is based off a real situation with Kendall Jenner & Pepsi who decided to try and capitalize off the momentum of BLM protests around 2016/17 for the police shootings of Alton Sterling & Philando Castile. There's a picture of a lone woman standing up to cops in riot gear, which the Pepsi ad is based off of, which the A-Train scene is parodying. Pepsi & Jenner received a ton of backlash for that ad because it was tasteless and out of touch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwvAgDCOdU4 The elevator scene with Supersonic, A-Train mentions how 1 speedbump after all he's done, and he's out, highlights how sometimes Black public figures can do so much, but one incident happens and they're done for. Its sorta like the Will Smith slap situation. W.S had a positive track record, next to none to little drama/issues for the past 2 decades, but 1 incident and the industry tried dumping him.
